Scatter of Sequins with Stephanie & Noel

BlogTopper-Sequins

Happy Friday, everyone!  Welcome to our final day of featuring all the amazing things you can do with sequins.  Our designers have certainly risen to the challenge, haven’t they?!  I am SO impressed with their projects this week…but I think I say that every week.  Ha!

Today we have two more layouts to share with you, and I had to pair them together because they just compliment each other perfectly.

Up first is this gorgeous layout that Stephanie did about herself.  Look at how amazing the sequins look at the bottom of her photo, and then scattered about.  SO pretty!

stephaniebryan-sequin-1

Here is a little bit of info from Stephanie about her layout, “I knew I wanted to use the quote “she who leaves a trail of glitter is never forgotten” and a picture of myself for the sequin challenge.  Most of my layouts are about my two children, but I try to remember to document my own journey.  For this layout, I decided to write little “reminders” to myself.  I typed them directly onto my photo using my typewriter.  I added the sequin border at the bottom of my picture because I felt it went perfectly with the quote and the small sequins scattered throughout the page were inspired by the quote itself (“a trail of glitter”).”

Here is a detail shot of her layout!

noelculbertson-sequins-1

Here is what Noel has to say about sequins, “I’m a little behind the trend curve and only have one small jar of sequins on hand, but with the variety of colors and sizes available, sequins are a fun (and inexpensive) way to add a little more sparkle to your projects. Here I layered them both above and below the Glitz Peek a Boos, as well as scattered across the page to draw the eyes.”

Today we have two layouts to share with you, both digital & traditional!  Up first…I have a digital layout that I created using some photos that we’re taken of us on the beach in Galveston this past April while visiting my husband’s parents!  I LOVE these photos, and the partnered perfectly with the Uncharted Waters collection…which is now available digitally!!

LeaLawson-Sequins-DigiLO-1

The weather didn’t cooperate with us very much while we were down there, but I am still so glad that we went.  I hadn’t been to the beach in a really long time, and I will treasure these photos we took together forever!

I LOVE sequins.  I use them physically on my cards all the time, and am so glad I have some digital options as well.  As you can tell, I added digital sequins to the background, and then two small digital sequins to the banners in the middle of the photos.  There is also scattered digital confetti in the background, which just adds to the whimsical side of this.  Here are some detail shots!

Girly Sequins with Karola & Karine

BlogTopper-Sequins

Happy Tuesday, everyone!!  As you know…we are all about the sequins this week.  Our designers have completely risen to the challenge, and today I have two more projects to share with you from Karola & Karine.

Up first is a beauty of a card from Karola…check out how she created a shaker of fabulous pink sequins!!  Totally LOVING this!

karolawitczak-sequins-1

Here is a small “how to” from Karola, “Today’s project is a card with perhaps a little forgotten accent: a shaker box. When I heard that one of our topics this month was sequins – I immediately thought of sequins placed in a small shaker box and arranged on a greeting card. I made this card for my friend, so I decided to combine pink and beige from the Uncharted Waters line with dramatic B&W chevron washi tape from Cashmere Dame, and of course the beautiful title from the Hello Friend collection….
karolawitczak-sequins-2

I wanted to create an interesting palette of colors here, thanks to the combination of different materials with various Glitz Design collections – it’s very easy. My box in which I added sequins originally were package of ribbons – surely you can find this kind of boxes in your craft room. I covered the box with washi tape, added one of Hello Friend – Title Stickers and finally poured inside a handful of pink sequins and glued so that the box was kept closed. I love the effect when sequins rattling inside the box and sparkles beautifully in different shades! Sequins are very trendy now and are also a great addition in glamour style, so I encourage you to use sequins with Glitz products in projects for your girlfriends, sisters, and for your Moms!”

Up next is Karine, with this sweetheart of a layout!

karinecazenave-sequins-1
Here is what Karine has to say about sequins, ” Sequins are really trendy nowadays; they are like little jewels on our scrapbooking pages! This challenge was an opportunity to use pictures starring my niece Noélie, who is so very girly! A skirt that twirls, fuchsia pink colour and sequins: we are definitely talking girls here!

Once my page done, I had fun adding little heart-shaped & round-shaped sequins here and there. They are stapled directly on my layout; I even stapled some on my pictures! The extra sequins are inserted in a small transparent envelop which will serve as shaker box. The envelop is glued under one of the three pictures.
karinecazenave-sequins-2

When I saw these golden sequins, it came to me that I could emboss two arrows. They are stamped on a white paper then embossed with golden powder. Then they are cut out and used as accents.  I hope this layout gave you some ideas on how to use sequins on a page!”

Supply List:

BlogTopper-Sequins

Happy Monday, Glitz fans!!  Welcome to a new week!!  This week I have asked all of our designers to create projects using sequins!!  Sequins have been around forever, but have recently popped up as a trend on layouts, cards & other paper crafted projects.  I am pretty sure I can quote a certain Paper Crafts Mag editor who said, “sequins are the new rhinestone”.  :)   I am in the camp that they are even BETTER used together.  You are going to be SO inspired by the way our designers have used sequins this week, and I can’t wait to get started!

Woodgrain & Color with Karine & Lea

BlogTopper-Woodgrain

Happy Friday!!  Is everyone ready for their weekend?!!  Hopefully we have helped inspired you this week, and you might break out some of your Glitz woodgrain product & create something fabulous.  If so…be sure to share it with us!!

Today we have two layouts to share with you, one traditional & one digital.  Up first is the paper layout by Karine, featuring her cutie of a son!

karinecazenave-woodgrain1

Here is some info from Karine about her creative process on this one, “This week’s theme is Woodgrain so I immediately thought of using a picture of my son, to create a masculine layout.  I had fun creating a brand new background with Woodgrain paper pieces!  Choose a cardstock then create your background by multiplying the pattern papers. I mixed papers of different sizes: 12×12, 8×8 & 6×6. A very easy exercise for a very nice result! You can do it with paper scraps as well, it would be a good way to re-use them.

karinecazenave-woodgrain2

Once my cardstock has been covered, I added my picture. I sprayed blue Glimmer Mist ink on the lighter pattern papers to bring some colour into the page. While my background is drying, I stamp some patterns in black ink such as arrows, a tag and the number 10 (since my boy is 10 years old).  I added some stars with matching colours.  A transparent banner is stapled for a more colourful touch. Tags are inserted under the picture, they will serve as journaling cards.

karinecazenave-woodgrain3

In the end, let’s add the title “Happy Day“. The word “Happy“ is made of tiny black alphabet letters. The word “Day“ is a Glitz stamp which perfectly fits my lay-out.  The corners of my papers are reworked with Distress Vintage Photo ink to reinforce the masculine effect of the page.  I hope you liked my creation!”

Supply List:
Glitz Papers: Glitz Color me Happy – Woodgrain
8×8 Glitz Paper Pack: Uncharted Waters
6×6 Glitz Paper Pack: Color Me Happy

Up next is a digital layout that I created about a fun snowmobiling trek that my husband and I went on with our best friends in January.

LeaLawson-Woodgrain-DigiLO-1

I am absolutely LOVING my new journey into digital scrapbooking, especially considering it looks like it could be a paper/traditional layout.  There were so many colors in the photo, plus the log building in the background of it…that the papers & accents from “Color Me Happy” were perfect for it.  I love how colorful it is, and the woodgrain background just makes it all come together to me!

Here is a detail shot of the layout:

Dreamy Woodgrain with Karola & Noel

BlogTopper-Woodgrain

Happy Thursday, everyone!!  Welcome to another day full of woodgrain goodness!  Today two of our designers have created layouts that are dreamy, romantic…and have such similar color palettes that I knew I had to feature them together!

Up first is a lovely layout created by Karola…it is full of amazing layers, texture & beautiful images of her sweet daughter.

karolawitczak-woodgrain-1

Here is some more info from Karola, “In today’s layout I decided to use woodgrain as a complement to a pastel color palette. I used the Color Me Happy collection, beautiful light blue and yellow patterned papers with a dark woodgrain to create a background for my photos. I also cut the decorative edges using a deep edge punch and a few woodgrain style elements from the Color Me Happy – Bits & Pieces patterned paper, like an alarm clock and part of a title or small “hi there” element. Another piece with a woodgrain pattern is one of the Color Me Happy – Giant Rhinestones motifs and fine woodgrain stamping I’ve done using Giant Roller Doodle stamp and mustard color ink at the edges of my layout. I had so much fun using woodgrain on my page and surely I’ll use this motif often!”

Here are some details shots of her gorgeous layout!

jaimewarren-woodgrain
Here is what Jaime had to say about her layout, “I love how the Glitz Woodgrain Patterned Paper makes the bolder prints from the Color Me Happy line just POP.  It makes a fabulous, neutral background for projects!  I cut a frame from the 6″patterned paper sheet and then layered the Peek-A-Boo over it.  I fussy cut the little geo tag and camera from the 6″ paper pad and then attached with foam pop dots for extra dimension.”

Eclectic Woodgrain with Lisa & Mou

BlogTopper-Woodgrain

Welcome to day two of our woodgrain week!!  Weren’t yesterdays layouts a lovely breath of fresh air?  Sigh- they made me happy.

Today we have a couple of projects that are more eclectic & artsy in nature.  Up first is a fun layout from Lisa!

LisaAndrews-Woodgrain

Here is what Lisa had to say about our theme this week, “”I was so excited to be challenged to use woodgrain on my layout this week. With all of the cool Glitz woodgrain options, it wasn’t hard! I wouldn’t normally layer woodgrain on woodgrain, but I think it really works with this page. I love that the wood tones give a neutral background and then the pops of color can really stand out.”

I love how she cut the Whatnot into parts so it would work better on her page, and that she used one of the fun borders from the top of the 6×6 paper sheets!!

Supply List:
Glitz Designs “Color Me Happy” Patterned Paper: Woodgrain
Glitz Designs “Color Me Happy” 8 X8 Paper Pad
Glitz Designs “Color Me Happy” 6 X 6 Paper Pad
Glitz Designs “Color Me Happy” Paper Layers
Glitz Designs “Color Me Happy” Peek a Boo
Glitz Designs “Color Me Happy” Journaling Stickers
Glitz Designs “Color Me Happy” Giant Rhinestones
Glitz Designs “Color Me Happy” Woodgrain Tape

Up next is Mou with a card, where she used the woodgrain roller stamp on the background.  How awesome are the neon colors here?!

MouSaha-woodgrain-1

Mou’s Steps:
I inked up the Giant Roller Doodle with pink ink and rolled it onto the card. I sprinkled some water onto the card for the ink to blend a bit. I splattered acrylic paints on the card. I cut a strip of woodgrain paper layer and notched the ends to make a banner, added the strip to the card, and put pieces of washi tape at the top and bottom of the strip. I stamped the sentiment on a punched circle, layered it on a bigger circle, and mounted it overlapping the strips. To finish the card, I stitched in circles around the sentiment.

Light & Airy Woodgrain with Magda & Stephanie

BlogTopper-Woodgrain

Happy Monday, everyone!!  It’s woodgrain week here on the Glitz blog, and our designers have lots of eye candy to share with you over the next 5 days!  Glitz Design has a ton of amazing woodgrain product, including patterned paper, & washi tape!  Many of our stickers & accents include woodgrain of some sort as well…giving you lots of possibilities!

Today we have Stephanie & Magda sharing how they incorporated woodgrain into their light & airy designs.

Up first is Stephanie, who utilized the woodgrain paper to peek through these fun butterfly cuts all over her layout!  Check it out!

stephaniebryan-woodgrain-1
Here is a little more info from Stephanie about her layout:
“For this week’s project, I wanted to use my silhouette to make a fun “canvas” for my woodgrain paper.  I’m obsessed with butterflies at the moment so I decided to cut out a whole bunch of butterflies on a 12×12 piece of white card stock.  To add some dimension to my page, I used some of the 6×6 and 8×8 paper packs to cut out some additional butterflies to add directly onto my layout.  I sewed several together so I could move the butterfly “wings” around and add a fun “pop” to the page.  I finished the layout off with a title using the amazing metallic gold mini alpha from the Uncharted Waters collection, as well as some wood veneers!”

Here are some details shots from her layout:

I don’t know about you…but those projects just kind-of make me want to sigh, and just stare at them.  Tee hee!

Don’t forget that we have added another giveaway incentive during each month!!  We have a blog hop at the end of the month, which always has a prize attached to it.  That will stay the same.  But on the same day that I chose the winner from the blog hop, I will also choose another random comment on the Glitz blog from the ENTIRE month to win a surprise Glitz goodie package as well!!  So, the more blog entries that you leave comments on during May…the more chances you have to win!

Come back on over tomorrow when we share some projects that are a bit more artsy & eclectic!  Have a great Monday!!
