Colorful Peek A Boos with Karola & Lisa

Happy Tuesday, everyone!!  Welcome to our 2nd day of projects featuring the amazing printed transparencies called “Peek A Boos” that Glitz Design creates for almost every collection.

Today we have some colorful & bold projects by two of our fabulous designers, Karola & Lisa.  Up first is Karola, with a fun layout about her sweet daughter!

karolawitczak-peek-a-boos-1

Here are Karola’s thoughts on Peek A Boos, “I must admit that at the beginning of my adventure with Glitz products, Peek-a-boos was a challenge for me. But soon I found out what a great addition they are! In today’s inspiration I used a large Color Me Happy Peek-a-boos to arrange background on my page. When I added the title and a big hot air balloon, it turned out that a half of work I have finished! But I decided to create also a few layers using the Peek-a-boos. As you can see – the vast majority of elements in my work, are Peek-a-boos. With its transparency and bright colors you can create beautiful, layered and interesting compositions.”

And here are some detail shots of her layout!

Lisa said, “One of my favorite Glitz products is their Peek A Boo transparencies. They are so easy to layer and come in such fun designs. On this layout, I used Peek a Boos in seven different places. Can you find all 7? I love that they subtly add interest and dimension without overpowering the layout.”

Happy Monday, Glitz fans!!  Did you have a wonderful weekend?  I certainly hope so!  This week the Glitz designers are focused on using the amazing printed transparencies that Glitz comes out with called “PeekABoos”!  These are such FUN accents, and have some of the funnest designs out there!

Up first is this gorgeous layout by Stephanie, using a photo from her wedding day.

stephaniebryan_peekaboo1

Here is what Stephanie had to say about her project, “I love all the Peek a Boos!  They add so much fun to any layout or project!  And I’m kind of obsessed with ampersands, so I knew I wanted to use the script ampersand from the Love You Madly collection Peek a Boos for this week’s project.  I decided to use two of the Peek a Boos, a picture and a vellum envelope to create a fun garland on my page.  I love the awesome colors of the Uncharted Waters Paper Garland, and thought they coordinated great with the photo of my husband and me on our wedding day and the Peek a Boos.  The vellum envelope holds a little love letter for my husband.”

Glitz DT Member: Marie

Happy Monday, and Memorial Day to our US readers!!!  I hope that you had a wonderful holiday weekend!!  This week is blog hop week, so it will look a little different than the rest of the weeks.  All of our designer inspiration this week will come in the form of a blog hop on Thursday, with prizes to be won by participating in the blog hop, and from commenting all month long!

But first, we want to introduce one more new design team member that we have brought on.  I have featured her many times in the Out & About posts on the Glitz blog…and I have said this about her before, but this girl can SCRAP!  It is none other than Marie Ramirez!!

MarieRamirez-HeadshotBlog: http://www.absosweetmarie.blogspot.com/

Describe your style.
My style is eclectic. I love trying new things and the more unusual the better. I hate for my work to always look the same. I love dimension, texture and sparkle!

What is your favorite thing about paper crafting?
It brings me so much joy. The friends I have made just because of this hobby has to be my fav thing. I have met so many wonderful people along this journey and many I call close friends. I couldn’t be more thankful.
What is going on around you as you create? (ie: music, television, silence, drink of choice, snacks, etc…)
Well I create whenever and wherever I can. We maybe watching tv, listening to music, kids fighting (haha), or music playing. In the morning before work I always try to slip some me time in. That is the only time there is silence.
Where do you create? (Include a photo if you’d like!!)
I mainly create on my couch. I have a crafty cottage out in the back that is currently under renovation (for the 3rd time). I love my tiny little cottage but I always end up in the living room with the family. You can find my cottage tour on YouTube (The before, I will post another after.)
What is your favorite Glitz Design product &/or collection and why?
I love the stamps, paper, embellishments… Lets face it, I love it all!! My fav line so far has to be uncharted! That line captured my eye right away. Love every little detail of it.
Here is a sample of one of Marie’s favorite layouts using Glitz!
MarieRamirez-Project
Please join me in welcoming Marie to the Glitz Design dt!  We are so excited to have her, and can’t wait to see what she creates with us this year!
Have a great rest of your Monday!

Scatter of Sequins with Stephanie & Noel

BlogTopper-Sequins

Happy Friday, everyone!  Welcome to our final day of featuring all the amazing things you can do with sequins.  Our designers have certainly risen to the challenge, haven’t they?!  I am SO impressed with their projects this week…but I think I say that every week.  Ha!

Today we have two more layouts to share with you, and I had to pair them together because they just compliment each other perfectly.

Up first is this gorgeous layout that Stephanie did about herself.  Look at how amazing the sequins look at the bottom of her photo, and then scattered about.  SO pretty!

stephaniebryan-sequin-1

Here is a little bit of info from Stephanie about her layout, “I knew I wanted to use the quote “she who leaves a trail of glitter is never forgotten” and a picture of myself for the sequin challenge.  Most of my layouts are about my two children, but I try to remember to document my own journey.  For this layout, I decided to write little “reminders” to myself.  I typed them directly onto my photo using my typewriter.  I added the sequin border at the bottom of my picture because I felt it went perfectly with the quote and the small sequins scattered throughout the page were inspired by the quote itself (“a trail of glitter”).”

Here is a detail shot of her layout!

Up next is this layout by Noel with a gorgeous photo of her daughter.  I love how she has scattered sequins about on her page…that is what drew me to pair these two layouts together.

noelculbertson-sequins-1

Here is what Noel has to say about sequins, “I’m a little behind the trend curve and only have one small jar of sequins on hand, but with the variety of colors and sizes available, sequins are a fun (and inexpensive) way to add a little more sparkle to your projects. Here I layered them both above and below the Glitz Peek a Boos, as well as scattered across the page to draw the eyes.”

And a detail shot of her page!

Today we have two layouts to share with you, both digital & traditional!  Up first…I have a digital layout that I created using some photos that we’re taken of us on the beach in Galveston this past April while visiting my husband’s parents!  I LOVE these photos, and the partnered perfectly with the Uncharted Waters collection…which is now available digitally!!

LeaLawson-Sequins-DigiLO-1

The weather didn’t cooperate with us very much while we were down there, but I am still so glad that we went.  I hadn’t been to the beach in a really long time, and I will treasure these photos we took together forever!

I LOVE sequins.  I use them physically on my cards all the time, and am so glad I have some digital options as well.  As you can tell, I added digital sequins to the background, and then two small digital sequins to the banners in the middle of the photos.  There is also scattered digital confetti in the background, which just adds to the whimsical side of this.  Here are some detail shots!

Glitz Girls!

Hello! Laura Funk here! I’m one of the owners of Glitz Design and I’m excited to begin posting again to let you all know what the Glitz Girls are up to! We have a lot of things we are working on for our upcoming CHA Las Vegas Tradeshow in July!

photo 1

The 3 Glitz Girls; Erin, Ginger and I are busy, busy, busy making show preparations! WE are super excited to debut our new products soon!

On top of preparing for our tradeshow we just finished up all of our projects for our upcoming Glitz Girls Signature Series Book with Northridge Media! Exciting! The book is scheduled to release in October. We were challenged in many ways with our scrapbooking abilities and it was so much fun!

On that note I thought it would be fun to create some scrapbooking challenges here on our blog! I started out with The Glitz Girls! I came up with 1 Inspiration Item…and asked each Glitz Girl  to create something using the picture of the Inspiration Item. I think this is a great way to get your creative juices flowing and perhaps even get you out of a rut or even out of your comfort zone…and create something new! I told the girls to not spend a lot of time…only 20mins if possible. You can see below how each of us took the same Inspiration Item and created something completely different!

Erin created:

Ginger created:

I look forward to posting more Inspiration Items and hope you will join us…and show us what you create! Happiness!

Girly Sequins with Karola & Karine

BlogTopper-Sequins

Happy Tuesday, everyone!!  As you know…we are all about the sequins this week.  Our designers have completely risen to the challenge, and today I have two more projects to share with you from Karola & Karine.

Up first is a beauty of a card from Karola…check out how she created a shaker of fabulous pink sequins!!  Totally LOVING this!

karolawitczak-sequins-1

Here is a small “how to” from Karola, “Today’s project is a card with perhaps a little forgotten accent: a shaker box. When I heard that one of our topics this month was sequins – I immediately thought of sequins placed in a small shaker box and arranged on a greeting card. I made this card for my friend, so I decided to combine pink and beige from the Uncharted Waters line with dramatic B&W chevron washi tape from Cashmere Dame, and of course the beautiful title from the Hello Friend collection….
karolawitczak-sequins-2

I wanted to create an interesting palette of colors here, thanks to the combination of different materials with various Glitz Design collections – it’s very easy. My box in which I added sequins originally were package of ribbons – surely you can find this kind of boxes in your craft room. I covered the box with washi tape, added one of Hello Friend – Title Stickers and finally poured inside a handful of pink sequins and glued so that the box was kept closed. I love the effect when sequins rattling inside the box and sparkles beautifully in different shades! Sequins are very trendy now and are also a great addition in glamour style, so I encourage you to use sequins with Glitz products in projects for your girlfriends, sisters, and for your Moms!”
karolawitczak-sequins-3

Glitz Design “Uncharted Waters” – Washi Tape – Happiness

Glitz Design “Cashmere Dame” – Washi Tape – Chevron

Up next is Karine, with this sweetheart of a layout!

karinecazenave-sequins-1
Here is what Karine has to say about sequins, ” Sequins are really trendy nowadays; they are like little jewels on our scrapbooking pages! This challenge was an opportunity to use pictures starring my niece Noélie, who is so very girly! A skirt that twirls, fuchsia pink colour and sequins: we are definitely talking girls here!

Once my page done, I had fun adding little heart-shaped & round-shaped sequins here and there. They are stapled directly on my layout; I even stapled some on my pictures! The extra sequins are inserted in a small transparent envelop which will serve as shaker box. The envelop is glued under one of the three pictures.
karinecazenave-sequins-2

When I saw these golden sequins, it came to me that I could emboss two arrows. They are stamped on a white paper then embossed with golden powder. Then they are cut out and used as accents.  I hope this layout gave you some ideas on how to use sequins on a page!”
