Freedom of Choice with Nicole Petersen

I’m all about freedom of choice — whether it’s freedom from a schedule or kids! Well, this month the designers for Glitz were given the freedom to choose one other project — outside of our normal category! I choose to create one layout and one altered project.

For my layout, I chose to mix two paper collections– Vintage Love and Distressed Couture. This picture is my grandfather-in-law in Alaska, but what makes it extra special to me is that my eleven-year-old was the photographer. She remembers him asking someone to snap his picture with the massive moose horns. She will also share the moment of making her parental grandfather happy with one click of a camera.

This is what scrapbooking is all about – treasuring the moments that shape our lives and preserving them for future generations.

If you look closely at my layout, you will notice that I used Glitz stamps (Fancy Frames, Distressing, and Save the Date) to create a one-of-a-kind tape! I love the idea of using stamps and ink to create items for my layouts that make me smile when I share them with my family and friends.

For this month’s altered item, I changed a regular metal dressform into a piece of art. This beauty will be in my living room.

I again used tape made from wonderful Glitz stamps (as a belt!) to highlight a Glitzer from the Vintage Love collection. I popped it up with a dot of glue and a fragment! Fun!

Notice, the necklace made from Glitz bling and the “head” featuring a flower made from Glitz paper. Now, that’s a fashion statement!

She’s a Beaut! Have a great 4th of July! And, be sure to celebrate whatever sort freedom you are given.

The Freedom of Summer with Leah Farquharson

We love summer around here. The freedom, the activity… well, not the heat. Living in the tropics has it’s disadvantages – but we try not to dwell on that! On afternoons when the boys are running around enjoying the outdoors, you’ll usually find me toting my camera around behind them trying to capture some of these most favorite moments of their little boyhood.
I loved using the bright, vibrant colors in the Maya collection to document some of them! I also layered stamps from the Distressing Set 2, and Save the Date sets to add more interest to the page!
Here’s a few detail shots:
Summer also means lots of birthdays around here… 3 out of the four of us are in June and July! ^_^ Even though we had a few things stand in the way this year, I squeaked a cake in at the 11th hour {literally, 11:40pm}, so that I made sure that my hubby felt special for his special day!
And what says birthday better than a little banner? I created this one using a simple circle punch, patterned paper, tiny letters and some satin ribbon.
Of course, I had to journal a little bit about the lateness of everything this year down in the corner… this is one of our favorite cakes, too! Guinness chocolate – and yes, it has stout in it…yum…
Happy summer!

A little bit of freedom….

For the month of July, we have given the design team a little bit of freedom with their assignments.  Each member is normally assigned to a team, whether it be layouts, cards, or altered projects.  This month, they were given the option to change out one of their assignments for a different team!!  So, if you see some Glitzy card gals coming up with fabulous layouts…or a layout girl posting an amazing home decor piece….don’t be alarmed.  We’re just showing off how amazingly talented they are!!

I can’t wait to see what they all come up with, whether they stick to their team, or change it up a bit.  Have a good July!!

Until later,

P.S. I can’t leave a post without some inspiration…so here are a few Glitzy cards that I have done this year, but haven’t been posted to the blog before!!  Hope you like them!!

Go Pink! with Kay Sibley

I was in a pink mood when I made these fun Glitz Design cards! There must not be enough pink in my life so these make me happy.  :)

For this first card, I used some Maya Rub Ons.  Oh my goodness!  I absolutely adore the cute male and female images!  I couldn’t resist adding a Frosting Rhinestone “necklace” and some “buttons”.  The sentiment is also a Maya Rub On.  Can you tell I’m so in love with the this line?!  Cute!

This next card was really fun to make.  I layered a Damask Rub On over some Pink Maya paper to make the background.  Then, I used a piece of Distressed Couture Stripe paper to mat a small piece of black cardstock which I stamped in white ink with the Text Distressing clear stamp.  As you can see, I then added a bunch of buttons.  Not only was it really easy to do but I was able to use up some buttons in my ridiculously huge button stash!

I hope you like my pink themed Glitz Design creations.  Thank you for visiting today and have a wonderful weekend.  It’s just around the corner!  YAY!

Seriously, what’s not to love about all of the fabulous Glitz lines? They’re fresh and fun and in a class all their own! On this layout I went to town with the Distressed Couture line using the Polka (DC2846), Blocks (DC2310), Vines (DC2334), Scrolls (DC2327) and Floral (DC2198) papers. I love the rub-ons that really rub on! I used the Distressed Black Music rub-ons (RO2600) over my daughter’s picture.

I love, love, love the Fancy Frames (S2693) stamps. With all that scrolly goodness, what’s not to love! Glitz cardstock stickers are the best ever… here I did a little fussy cutting to get the hearts and the crown from the little queen of hearts sticker on the Distressed Couture accent stickers (C2471).

I love the colors in the Maya line. They’re so bright and cheery. What a fun way to brighten up a picture of my daughter and I at our state capitol building. Here I used the Maya Navy (M2877), Stripe (M2273), Polka (M2297) and Floral (M2266) papers… with a little Distressed Couture Blocks (DC2310) thrown in for good measure!

The Teeny Alphas (C2815) are great for subtitles and even journaling, they were especially fun over this rhinestone embedded Glitzer frame (G2570).

Glitz DT - always & forever
Sometimes in the wide world of scrapbook supplies it is hard to find supplies that are manly enough without being theme oriented. The Vintage Love and Distressed Couture lines work perfectly together to make pages even a man enjoys having his face attached to. Here I used Vintage Love Floral (VL2365) and Stripe (VL2341) papers; as well as Distressed Couture Vines (DC2334), Blocks (DC2310) and Polka (DC2846) papers.

The Vintage Extras (RO2763) rub-ons make great accents. Here I rubbed them onto Glitz papers and cut them out for an added dimensional accent to my page.

Summer colored cards with Courtney Baker

It’s so hot here all I can think about is summer. So rather than fight it I decided to make two different summer cards with different styles. I started off with the Kismet Titles Cardstock Stickers. I love how large this “Always Be Yourself” sticker is on my card. What a great, easy way to whip together a quick card. I wanted this card to have a 4th of July feel without really saying it.

For my second card I wanted to use those bright fun colors that seem to scream summer. I’ve been eyeing this super cute distressed couture flower.

I love those teeny alphas! So great. I hope you are all enjoy your summer … it sure is hot here.

Kismet Wooden Plaque with Tammy Tutterow

I really fell in love with the “Always Be Yourself” graphic on the Kismet Cardstock Sticker sheet. I thought it would be perfect for a focal piece on a wooden decor plaque.

To begin, I covered a small wooden plaque with a piece of Kismet “Ledger”.

I adhered the sticker to a piece of chipboard which is layered onto a piece of Sticky Back Canvas that I applied a Fancy Frames Rub-on to. The assembled piece was then adhered to the plaque. Each layer was assembled using adhesive foam squares to create lots of depth.

I applied the Kismet Rub-ons bee to a piece of vellum and cut it out. I then adhered it to the assembled piece with adhesive foam squares.

I also added flowers and glitter stars for embellishments. To add a bit of extra interest, I added Glitzers Kismet flowers stickers as layers in my two large flowers.

The finished piece has lots of dimension and interest that are a perfect compliment to such a fun cardstock sticker!
