A Lil’ Glitz Love with Tracie Hudson

It’s that time of the month were I get to share a lil Glitz love :D

First off here’s one for the boys -

The photograph was printed on to canvas – I just love the texture it gives to this photo of my lil fish surfin’.

The Kismet cardstock stickers had the scissors taken to them, as I snipped and chopped to create the photo frame and page sub titles.

The title was computer generated and hand cut using my trusted Kraft Knife – an old technique but one I’d not used for a while as I always seem reach for chipboard alphas these days!!!

To add the finishing touches to the page, I clustered and layered Kismet Glitzers and added a few clear Frosting gems.

And now one for the girls -

I’ve always been a fan of multi photo pages and as these small photos have been floating around my scrap table for a while, I thought I’d finally get around to scrapping them :D

A combination of Maya Glitzers and Stickers were used to embellish this fun page celebrating how blessed I am to have two crazy lil sisters.

Have a great day and thanks for popping by.

Mixing Old & New with Sasha Halloway

I am a firm believer that sometimes it’s great to go back in time and reminisce bout the good old days. Via your clothing, songs, family and friends. I figured for my assignment I would use the new Vintage Love collection with a small hint of old Hey Dude collection for my layouts.
I decided to break out my cricut expression and bottlecaps (one of my all time favorite things to use for necklaces, magnets, bracelets and embellishments). I purchased the Hey Dude paper pack before I left for England, you can find it at your local Hobby Lobby.
I used the circle punch for the coordinating papers and added some glossy accents inside the caps.
Next up I played with the Vintage Love collection to make a 10×10 layout. I have boys so I was trying to go as grunge as possible. So I decided to add some Shimmerz, use the distressing stamps for the background.
“Thumb Wars”
and here I used my 2in scallop punch for the roses
So there you have it. I hope you have been inspired to go back in time and play with old paper collections that you were in love with and or that fit what you need at the time either your mood, gender of your children (in my case boys) and or just because you feel like it.
Happy Creating

Sharing Life with Noel Culbertson

I love clicking around the internet, on various blogs, albums and galleries, and seeing the amazing creativity of people with their passions. I’ve been visiting with my in-laws this week, and they are very new to the internet world. To them it is often frustrating and confusing, and just a tiny bit useful in certain areas. On the other hand, I can hardly remember the time of life when it wasn’t a part of my daily function… even though it really hasn’t been that long that life has been internet-filled. It reminds me again how each of us has our own strengths and ways of coming at life that is of intrinsic value to those around us. I am thankful to those who risk sharing their lives with others, so many have been  rich blessings in my own life.

The Glitz Girls

School & Life with Kay Sibley

It’s hard to believe that it’s already back to school season and many children will be ending their summer break in just a couple of weeks. When I saw this 1 + 1 Glitz Design Distressed Couture Accent Sticker, I knew it would be perfect to use on a card for a teacher or student.  I also used Vintage Love Polka and Vintage Love Letters pattern papers.  Do you see the gold metallic polka dots?  Those are Glitz Design rub ons. They are even more fabulous in real life!
My next card was inspired by the lovely Maya line.  I fussy cut some Maya Floral paper and added a Glitzer sticker to make the layered flower.  I absolutely love the colors in this line and I find it so easy to be inspired by it!

That’s it from me!  :)  Thank you very much for visiting me and my Glitz Design creations.  Enjoy the rest of your summer!

CHA Week "Love Nest" Winner

Just a quick blog post, because I haven’t heard from the winner of the Love Nest collection from CHA week.  Here is the winning comment once again:

Jacqueline said…

The collection is beautiful, and I love what the Design Time did with the products. I really like the vintage and shabby chic feel with the pops of bright color here and there.

When in Doubt, Cut it Out with Michelle Jackson-Mogford

Hi all!
It’s my turn to share some Glitzy goodness with you today.

Dance to your own tune

My mum took this picture of my niece in a Goth shop recently and as soon as I saw it I knew that the Glitz designs Distresed Couture collection would go with it perfectly!
I used Distressed Couture vines, blocks, scrolls, glitzers, rub ons, journalling cardstock stickers,Black fleur de lis rub ons, fancy frames rub ons and red & black frosting

Because the photo was taken in a shop there is a bit of background ‘noise’ that I didn’t want..

Now I know there are fab photo programmes that you can use to repair such things but why not just cut out the photo with a pair of good old fashioned scissors? You can get some interesting shapes to play with and spark new ideas too!

I laid it up on to some of the the vines paper that I knew would match the dress perfectly and added a mat of the news print paper behind the photo top lift it

and to lift it further added the corner of the fleur de lis rub on behind it, these large squares of rub ons are so useful!

A fancy frame rub on was added behind the image for that goth accent and I filled it with the butterfly rub ons. The Love glitzer was perfect but I only wanted red and black bling on the layout so I coloured the little gems set into the sticker (such a clever idea!) with a permanent pen. I added some lace, safety pins and a flower head from a cheap spray of flowers I picked up!

The tattoo type rub on was a perfect accent for the page as were the red and black frosting strips that I used to create my own flourish shapes.

Finally a few scraps of distressed couture papers, a safety pin and a cheap metal silver charm coloured with permanent markers pulled the layout together.

So now you know what I mean by ‘if in doubt … cut it out!’ and so I thought I would take it a step further for the next layout!!

Megan Scarlet and Winston

This is my other niece and this picture makes me smile! The Kismet collection matched the photograph colours brilliantly. This is what I used; Kismet dots, ledger, numbers, floral, rub ons, glitzers, accent stickers. Teeny alpha red block, vintage paper layers and Hot mama alphas.

Again the photo didn’t have a great background so I cut Megan out.

I decided to make this a collage page and set about cutting out cloud shapes and a rainbow from the papers. I used china blue distress ink to add to the ‘cartoon feel’ of the pieces and did my favourite thing with the glitzers and rub ons by adding them to some acetate to cut out.

I layered up all the elements, cut out the balloon from the paper layer and added some white doodling to lift everything from the page.

I had run out of a couple of the alphas so I cut the outline from the sticker sheet, using the negative as my missing letters and I just love the teeny alphas!!

I layered up the glitzers and rub ons I cut from the acetate onto foam pads for added dimension and that’s it a page that makes me smile!

Now you can take this cutting out photos thing a stage further if you wish … I love to make paper dolls…

a layout of the Glitzy girls I did a while ago (using the Maya collection)… but you don’t have to go this far if you don’t want to LOL!

Thanks for stopping by, I’m now tapping my fingers on the table eagerly awaiting my new glitzy goodies, how about you?
I’ll see you soon, until then Happy Crafting!

Stylin’ Love Cards with Courtney Baker

There seems to be a lot of talk about styles lately, and usually my style is like a moving target. I like to play with different types of styles. So for my two Glitz cards I did just that, played with styles. Both are “LOVE” cards, but two different styles.

For the first I went all out on the glam factor. Lots of red and black and even a little bling!

Don’t you just love that frame? It’s actually the Fancy Frames Rub-on. I was instantly in love with those frames, but it’s one of those things I’ve had a hard time using it since I like them so much. Thankfully I still have two more.

for my second card I thought I’d play around with the Shabby side of things. I think the Vintage Love Whatnots are the perfect starting point.

I simply added a few buttons, a dyed doiley, and ribbon, but it all started with that great heart! It’s a pretty interesting color combo, but I’m really happy with how the soft colors play against the green, brown and black.
