Glitz cards with Lea Lawson

Hi all!!  As you may have noticed, this week is a little bit of a “filler” week.  I always love seeing what the girls come up with using Glitz!!  I have a couple of my own cards to share with you today!

This first one uses some of the new Love Nest papers, which I just love!!

This next card combines the newer Maya line with the older Audrey line…and they combine together so well!  I really love pink & orange together, so I really love this card!

Thanks for heading over to the Glitz blog today!!  We will get back to regularly scheduled programming on Monday!

Until later,
~Lea

Vintage Love Wooden Frame with Tammy Tutterow

I am pretty sure Glitz Design’s Vintage Love collection was made just for me!  I just can’t get enough of it’s soft patterns and colors.  I love vintage everything and this collection just embodies what I love about shabby and vintage.  I find myself using it again and again.

Vlframe

For this project, I re-faced an ugly duckling wooden frame from the clearance aisle of Hobby Lobby.  I covered the face of the frame with the Polka pattern paper.  I added an second layer of paper using the blue side of the Letters pattern paper.

Vlframe2

I embellished the frame with an older Prima flower.  I pulled the layers of the flower apart and inserted a piece of Paper Layers that I cut using the Tim Holtz Tattered Florals Alterations Die.  I added a large paper covered brad by Bazzill that I stamped using the text on the postcard stamp on the Distressing 3 stamp set.

Vlframe3

I also added velvet leaves, a felt branch, and a large silver flower from Prima.

Vlframe4

I cut three butterflies out of the piece of Vintage Paper Layers.

Vlframe5

I adhered them to frame using adhesive only along the center so that the wings would be free.  I bent them slightly so that they would lay up off of the surface of the frame.

Vlframe6

I added a bit of random stamping on the frame, again using the text portion of the postcard stamp.

Vlframe7

Because the paper in the paper layers is so thin and almost tissue paper like, the wings actually flutter a bit with air movement.  They look very delicate on the frame.

Masculine Glitz Cards with Noel Culbertson

Have you ever found it hard to come up with a handmade card for a guy? I admit I find it much easier to make girlie goodies than macho-man crafts. But with a string of guy birthdays, and the help of Glitz Designs I have a few projects to share.

Glitz DT - 40th birthday
Layers of masculine distressed patterns in neutral colors are an easy way to give something a manly feel. Keeping the extra embellishments simple, and focusing on the layering keeps it from feeling feminine.

Glitz DT - 40th birthday {detail}
Supplies: Paper: Vintage Love Letters (VL2389), Kismet Stripe (K2211), Kismet Ledger (K2860), Distressed Couture Blocks (DC2846); Rub-ons: Vintage Extras (RO2763)
Glitz DT - 25th birthday
On this card I couldn’t quite resist the urge to add a flower. To keep it from getting girlie I used a brown flower, and separated the layers of paper on the flower to give it a more worn look. Also, using staples to attach the embellishments is a simple masculine touch.

Supplies: Paper: Kismet Numbers (K2242), Kismet Dots (K2228), Vintage Love Dots (VL2853); Stickers: Teeny Alpha Round Black (C2808)

This card was for a younger manly man who was just turning 2. I kept with the layers of neutral colors idea, but added a little fun with patterns and colors for a younger fella. Then added a touch of corrugated cardboard stapled on for good measure. To personalize the card for the recipient, I cut the “T” from the Vintage Love Letters paper.

Maya Layouts with Lisa Andrews

Today I’d like to share with you two layouts I made using the Glitz Maya Line. I really love the green/blue/pink color combo of this line. It works so well for different layout themes.

This first layout is a collection of photos from a photo shoot my oldest daughter organized for my youngest daughter. I loved using the Glitz stamps to create photo corners. It was an easy thing to do and I fell like it helps frame the photos and embellishments.
I really love the green background paper on this next layout. It’s such a vibrant color!
I did an accordion fold on the paper below the photos and then glued it down. I like that is adds a bit of dimension to the page without added a lot of bulk. Thanks for stopping by today! Hope you liked this look at the Glitz Maya Collection.

Cards that make you smile with Christine Penaflor

Good morning!  Today I have a couple of cards to share that I created using the beautiful Distressed Couture line from Glitz Designs.
YouMakeMeSmile1

This first card is inspired by this week’s Mojo Monday sketch # 157 and was made with the following supplies:
  • Distressed Couture Blocks (DC2310) patterned
    paper
  • Distressed Couture Titles Cardstock stickers
    (C2426)
  • Black cardstock
  • Red ruffle board
  • Vintage lace and seam binding
  • Heart buttons
To create this card, first make a card base using black cardstock. Next, cut a piece of the newsprint side of the Distressed Couture Blocks paper for the background and stitch around the border using red thread. Cut a piece long rectangular piece of ruffle board and mount a slightly smaller piece of the Distressed Couture Blocks paper to it. Add a length of vintage lace to the right side of the patterned paper and then adhere this piece to the front of the card as shown.
YouMakeMeSmile2

For the sentiment block, cut a piece of black cardstock for the mat, a piece of red ruffle board which has a white border stitched around it, and adhere a length of seam binding between the two pieces. Adhere the sentiment sticker to the top of the ruffle board, and attach a bow made from seam binding to the right of the sentiment as shown. Tuck the ends of the seam binding underneath the background paper after adhering the sentiment block to the front of the card as shown. For the final touch, thread seam binding through the holes of three heart shaped buttons, trim the ends of the seam binding, and adhere the length of buttons to the card front to complete the card.

NothingWithoutLove1
The second card was inspired by Laura’s sketch at 2 Sketches 4 You (rotated 180 degrees) and made with these materials:
  • Distressed Couture Polka (DC2846) patterned
    paper
  • Distressed Couture Stripe (DC2204) patterned
    paper
  • Distressed Couture Blocks (DC2310) patterned
    paper
  • Fancy Frames rub ons (RO2091)
  • Distressed Couture Titles Cardstock stickers
    (C2426)
  • Red cardstock and ruffle board
  • Seam binding
  • Heart button
  • Pearl swirls
  • Martha Stewart Trellis border punch
To create this card, begin with a card made from dark red
cardstock. Next, cut a piece of the Distressed Couture Polka paper for the
background and sew a border around it using white thread.  Punch a border using the red side of the
Distressed Couture Stripe paper. Adhere a length of seam binding along the
punched border paper and adhere this to the Polka paper.
NothingWithoutLove2
For the framed sentiment part of the card, use one of the fancy frames rub ons on the lighter newsprint side of the Distressed Couture Blocks paper. Trim around the frame and embellish the inside of the rub-on frame using a heart cut out from the red ruffle board, a bow made from seam binding, and one of the Distressed Couture cardstock titles for the sentiment. Adhere the frame to the card front as shown. Finally, embellish the card front with a pearl swirl to complete the card.

Thank you for joining me today! I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Summer Vacation layouts with Lisa Andrews

Hello! I’m excited to share a couple of Glitz layouts with you today.

This summer I was lucky enough to get to go on two fabulous vacations. One was a camping trip to the beach in San Diego and the other was a trip with my husband to Austria.

We started off our summer beach camping with friends for a few days near San Diego. We fell asleep to the sound of the waves each night and ate way too much while relaxing at the beach.

I put together a layout with a few of my favorite photos from the camp site.

One of the cities we visited in Austria was Vienna. I combined photos from a few of my favorite sites around Vienna for this layout.
The Glitz frame stamp made a perfect accent for my photos.Such great vacations!

Supplies
Camping layout: Glitz Kismet paper, glitzers, alpha and frosting.
Vienna layout: Glitz Distressed Couture paper, stickers and red alpha.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Hoopla Canvas Project with Tammy Tutterow

At first look, you may think of Glitz Design’s new Hoopla collection as a birthday themed collection, since a lot of the embellishments are centered around birthdays and celebrations.  The collection though is packed full of elegant patterns that lend themselves to so much more.  I think this stretched canvas project that I created recently illustrates the versatility of this collection.

Hooplacanvas1

I added several layers to the project to give it lots of depth and dimension.  I began by covering the canvas with the Floral pattern from the collection.  Next I added a layer of Pipework, then a Paper Layers page, and then a second piece of Pipework using the pattern on the opposite side.  I topped the layers with a photo adhered under a Peek-a-Boo transparency.  Each layer was brushed with Black Soot Distress Ink and was mounted on thin chipboard and adhered with adhesive foam squares.

Hooplacanvas2

Hooplacanvas6

I dug around in my flower stash and found this older flower from Prima that was a perfect match of blue with a punch of green.  I brushed a bit of Black Soot Distress Ink on the edges.  I added a stem of crystals and jeweled leaves by Prima also.

Hooplacanvas3

I brushed Rock Candy Distress Crackle paint on the round date sticker from the cardstock Journaling stickers.  While the paint was wet, I added two Tim Holtz Idea-ology Game Spinners to the sticker with a brad.  I added them while the paint was wet so that it could work like glue and help keep them in place.

Hooplacanvas4

I added a bit of vintage grosgrain ribbon with a layer of Tim Holtz Idea-ology Tissue Tape over it.  I brushed a Black Soot Distress Ink on the edges of  “Celebrate” cardstock Titles sticker and added it over the Tissue Tape.

Hooplacanvas5

I really love this finished piece!  I think it is such a pretty tribute to a favorite photo and special day.

Fall Pumpkin layouts with Leah Farquharson

I love how the distressing on these papers lends to the nuance of the passing of time – something that we associate so closely with the coming of autumn. I  used papers and ephemera from the Vintage Love collection, and then added a navy blue paper from the Maya Collection {I’m loving the comeback of navy blue lately!}

Living where we do, we don’t experience autumn, and when we visited my family in November last year, it was so great to stalk around with my camera capturing some of those images that you may take for granted if you live further north of us! It was also great to see the boys experience the cooler weather, pumpkins and leaves!
For this one, I used the background paper from the Distressed Couture line, and accented with things from the Vintage Love line. The tag at the top contains my journaling. We made pumpkin muffins after coming back from the pool one day {that explains the missing shirt! lol}
I loved adding touches of orange and green to subtly hint at the pumpkin flaver of the muffins. :)
