Glitzer Sticker Cards with Courtney Baker

gSometimes it’s nice to start with a blank slate. For these two cards that’s exactly what I did. I really just started with a white card base. And maybe I’ve been watching too much Project Runway and Mondo, but I just started combining these different patterned Glitzers. I think this is such a great fast card, and perfect for mailing. And with Valentine’s Day not too far off, both of these will work great to start my stash.

I really had so much fun arranging these Glitzers I thought I’d try the same effect with the Distress Couture.

Seasonal Layouts with Michelle Jackson-Mogford

Hi all, well here I am again to share some more Glitzy goodness with you in the form of 2 spooktacular layouts with yummy Glitz Designs
As the Halloween season approaches I thought I would do a layout to record my Halloween celebration. The celebration stretches right back to pagan roots and is a time to celebrate the end of one year and the beginning of the next, in effect it is the new year celebration as well as a time to celebrate our ancestors and of course the rich harvest to see us through the dark winter months and it is known as

Samhain (pronounced sow-ein)

I love the mix of Purple and black for Halloween so what better line to use than Glitz Designs Plum Crazy, one of my all time favourites … to date! Purple is such a hard colour to get right with papers and I think Glitz designs just hit the mark with this collection. Ok enough waffling this is my list of ingredients for my layout;
Glitz Designs Plum Crazy paper; Diamonds, chair, polka and stripe
Glitz Designs Plum Crazy journaling cardstock stickers
Glitz Designs Plum Crazy cardstock alphas
Glitz Designs Paisley flourish rub ons
Glitz Designs black damask rub on
Glitz Designs Distressing stamps; set two
Glitz Designs teeny alphas; round black.

I ripped the piece of chair paper in half roughly along the diagonal and distressed it all … liberally! Using the text side of the paper it went across the base of the diamonds paper (also distressed of course!)

Before I adhered the lilac text paper to the base I worked on it. I used the alpha stickers to create my title but didn’t want them the strong plum colour that they are so I took some of the sticky off the back (by repeatedly sticking each letter to my jumper) and used the alphas as a stencil. As I had run out of some of the letters I cut around their outline on the sticker sheet so I could use the negative, I quite like the ethereal quality I got from mixing up the positive and negative alphas. I then used one of the distressing stamps and some black ink to stamp over my title and built up a ‘black mist’. Tip; to avoid getting a straight edge from the stamp I only applied ink to the centre, avoiding adding ink to the stamp edge. Once I was happy with the build up of black I removed the alpha stickers (remember Glitz Design stickers are really super sticky so really work at covering them in fluff before using this method!)

I then added a piece of the Damask rub on, this I ripped to avoid harsh edges, a little paisley flourish and then cut out the centre of two of the journaling card stock stickers to add later.

My photos are of my Halloween hearth, candles, crystals and offerings of food and wine, these I layered onto some distressed pieces of the polka paper

Lastly I added some ribbon, a strip of the stripe paper as a detail, some staples, the tiny alphas and my journaling which is a little bit of Samhain Lore.

And now I’d like to take you from the past to the present with all the colours of the autumn season.

Little Pumpkin

I love this photo of my cousins little boy over in the states last Halloween on his Pumpkin search. I’ve mixed it up a little with my supplies for this layout and here’s the list;
Glitz Designs Vintage Love papers; love letters and polka
Glitz Designs Kismet papers; brown and stripes
Glitz Designs Kismet journaling cardstock stickers
Glitz Designs Maya papers; damask and stripe
Glitz Designs Maya rub ons
Glitz Designs teeny alphas; brown round

I decided to use the 11’’ x 8.5’’ format for this layout for a change as I really wanted to focus the design around the photo. I layered up a strip of vintage love letters onto some kismet brown then these two onto the vintage love polka. All pieces were distressed and inked, that part of my design didn’t change!

I then added a torn strip of Kismet stripes paper, some ribbon for texture and then cut out the round journaling block from the Kismet stickers so I could keep the very fine line of the outer circle to use as well, so creating 3 circles from the one sticker.

Next I set to with my scissors and the coloured sides of the Maya damask and stripe paper and cut out some autumn leaves. I then inked the edges to define the shape and curled them with my fingers. (You could of course use punches or dies if you have them!)

I layered up the photos and the leaves, using silicon glue to give my leaves movement and added more ribbon for texture.

I added some leaves to the top corner of the photo for balance, added the teeny alphas and finally the Maya rub on birdie ….as it just seemed right :)

And that’s it my Spooktacular Glitzy offering for this month. Thanks for stopping by and whatever you get up to this Halloween may I wish you the warmest of Seasons greetings and Happy Crafting

Thanks & Blessings Cards with Christine Penaflor

Good morning! I hope you’re all enjoying the wonderful days of autumn. The weather where I live has finally become cooler, and I’m now able to don my favorite sweaters once again.
As November approaches, I can’t help but remember how thankful I am for the many blessings I experience each day. One of which is the beautiful weather which inspired the creation of the first card I will be sharing with you today.

Products used:

  • Glitz Design “Kismet” Papers:  Brown, Floral
  • Glitz Design Teeny Alpha Brown Round
  • Glitz Design Clear Stamps: Distressing (Script),  Frames
  • Other: Prima flower, ribbon, Colorbox stamping ink, Kaisercraft pearls

This card was inspired by a sketch from Inspirational Card Sketches. For this card, I started with a white square card base. Next, I took a piece of Kismet Brown paper, stamped it with the script stamp from the Distressing clear stamp set, edged it turquoise stamping ink, and mounted onto the card front.  I wrapped a piece of ribbon around the paper and adhered this piece onto the card front. Next, I stamped a frame onto the white side of the Kismet Brown paper and cut along the edges. The frame was adhered onto the card front and embellished with white pearls.

The sentiment was created by using the Brown Round alphabet stickers and a miniature flag was cut from burgundy cardstock. This was inked around the edges and mounted onto a piece of the blue side of the Kismet Floral paper.  A bow was made from a length of ribbon and a Prima flower was adhered to the center of the bow.  The sentiment was adhered on top of the frame, and pearls adorn the top corners of the card for the finishing touch.
Card Patterns sketch #87 inspired this next card I’m sharing with you today.
Products used:

  • Glitz Design “Kismet” Papers:  Brown, Floral
  • Glitz Design Vintage Whatnots Cards
  • Glitz Design Teeny Alpha Brown Round
  • Glitz Clear Stamps: Distressing (Script)
  • Other: Petaloo flower, vintage lace, Colorbox stamping ink, Ranger distress ink

To create this card, I used a piece of white cardstock for the card base. Next I cut a piece of the blue side of the Kismet Floral paper and inked the edges with distress ink. Then, I chose a vintage card, adhered a length of vintage lace onto it, and then mounted this onto the card front.  A chipboard heart was covered with Ranger glitter glue and adhered to the front of the card.

A piece of blue side of the Kismet Floral paper was die cut into a label, stamped with the script stamp, and inked around the edges. The Brown Round alphabet stickers were used for the sentiment. The sentiment label was then adhered onto the card front as shown. Finally, flowers were added to complete the card.
Thanks so much for visiting today! I hope that the remaining days of October are filled with many blessings for which you can be thankful as well!
~ Christine

Best Witches with Emeline Seet

While most of you are preparing for Halloween and enjoying crisp pumpkin spiced air, we, over at the other side of the world aren’t so fortunate :) Nevertheless, I decided to give a go with a Halloween Frame.

I have a weakness for anything ornate and my heart skipped a beat or two when I saw Glitz Designs Rub On Pack which contains black ornate frames! They are really easy to use and rub on like butter. I transferred them onto a transparency.

As if it wasn’t enough, I went on to use Glitz Designs Fancy Frames (Clear Stamps). Here, I applied embossing ink and embbossed with neon green embossing powdey – all the while working on clear transparency. Apply heat using a heat gun and i layered the Frame (Rub on) onto the embossed frame. Since the rub on is in black, it brings out the neon green perfectly.

My next project, I created a shabby chic inspired sachet pillow.
This 7×5″ pillow not only has potpourri flower buds, it contained cotton batting as well. With a sewing theme in mind, I envisioned this item to be functional and be used as a pin-cushion.

I cut out chipboard, embossed it and wrapped Glitz Designs’ pattern paper around. Next, I tie my frequently used embroidery floss around for
easy access.

I stamped Glitz Design Distressing Ink onto unbleached muslin cloth and distressed the edges with distressing ink.

May you have a creative day today!

Gratitude Art Journal with Tammy Tutterow

I have been giving some thought lately to starting a second art journal project, one that focuses on gratitude and good things.  I was looking at the Glitz Design Scarlett Cardstock Journaling stickers and knew instantly that I not only needed to make that journal, but that the fun red sticker on that sheet that reads “It’s going to be a good day” needed to be on the front cover.

The base of the journal is one of Glitz’s new Vintage Chipboard Albums.

I layered a Paper Layers page and a Whatnots piece on the cover of the journal.  I wrapped the cover of the journal with black tulle.  I made a rosette with yellow tulle.

I adhered the red sticker to red patterned paper (Map).  I used a red mini safety pin to clip the sticker to the black tulle.

I adhered the round sticker with the little girls on patterned paper and tucked it behind the rosette.

I added a second Whatnots (American Beauty) under the tulle.  Each piece was sanded and inked with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.  I used Helmar’s 450 Quick Dry Glue to hold it all in place.
For the inside, I used the included pages as templates to cut new pages from plain white cardstock.

A Teacher Halloween Gift with Danni Reid

hello.  my youngest son has a very special kindergarten teacher who, because of cuts, has two kindergarten classes this year.  through it all, she has been wonderful to deal with, wonderful with the kids & shares her love of reading every single day.  it’s a tough job & she has been a pro.
i wanted to make her a fun little gift for halloween, a gift she can enjoy with her classes, a gift that might just make this upcoming holiday fun for her too.  it’s with this thought in-mind, that i created a halloween candy jar & storybook card for her to read to her students.
i did not purchase a line of halloween papers this year (i did not have to).  i  knew when looking at my Glitz Designs patterned papers from the distressed couture, vintage love and maya lines, that i would have plenty of greens, black, browns & greys that i would not need to purchase themed papers.  i ordered some little yellow bicycle halloween chipboard pieces to go with the papers & it’s been fun to use what i have in my supplies.

    Decoupaged Shadowbox with Tammy Tutterow

I really love Paper Layers from Glitz Design.  They are book size printed papers that are lightweight, lighter weight than printer paper but heavier than tissue paper.  They are perfect for using for decoupaging.  For this project, I had a black wooden shadowbox frame that was pretty scratched up.  It was bargain at $4 on the clearance aisle at Hobby Lobby, but in serious need of a make over!

I tore the sheets of Paper Layers from Love Next collection into strips.  I used Claudine Hellmuth Studio Matte Multi Medium to decoupage them onto the front and sides of the frame.

Because the paper is so thin, it decoupages nicely over corners and edges.

Once the Multi Medium was dry, I sanded the edges to create some wear and added Vintage Photo Distress ink to the edges.

I covered the inside back insert with the pink and cream side of the Polka patterned paper.  I decoupaged the Paper Layer with the bird cage in the lower left corner.

For the focal, I layered a Cardstock Journaling Sticker (the piece with the dates) on a Whatnots (the ledger print label) using adhesive foam squares.  I used a scrap piece of Paper Layers and typed on it using my vintage typewriter.  I added it on top of the sticker.  I used a second Cardstock Journaling Sticker (Beautiful) over the typed piece using adhesive foam squares.  The whole assembled piece was adhered to the frame insert using more adhesive foam squares.

I finished off with a bit of handy dyed crinkled seam binding, two little posey flowers, and two jeweled brads.  Along the way, each piece gets a bit of sanding and Vintage Photo Distress Ink for a shabby and vintage touch.

Boo Cute cards with Kay Sibley

Hi there!  I’m so happy you came to visit today!
    I’m still on a Halloween card spree because I truly love this time of the year!  I know, I’ve been saying that over, and over, and over! {wink}
For my first card, I used the Glitz Design Distressing Houndstooth clear stamp to create a background pattern.  I stamped the top and bottom of the card base and left some blank space in the middle. The pattern papers are from Glitz Design‘s Distressed Couture line and the zig zag edges were simply made with my trusty decorative scissors.

Can you see this little guy on his way to a Halloween party? :)
This mini shaped card has more Glitz Design goodies on it.  Even though it’s not a Halloween card, the green and purple color combination reminds me of that holiday.  I added some layering and texture with a Maya Glitzers sticker, Olivia rub on, and Prima flower.

Do you enjoy making shaped cards?  It’s always fun to shake things up a bit!
Thank you very much for stopping by.  I hope you feel inspired to take some time for yourself and do something creative.  Until next time, bye bye!

Spooky Houses & Sweet Treats with Leah Farquharson

We love Halloween around here. There are so many fun things to do as a family around this holiday time of the year! The year we added to our holiday decor with this fun and spooky haunted house. The boys had sooo much fun putting it together one Saturday!
I love going with that distressed look for the autumn holidays. It just feels right. So the distressed couture and vintage love lines were a perfect fit!
I love, love how cheesecloth is a really simple way to add to that distressed feel of a layout. It’s super easy to work with, too. I happen to buy this at Whole Foods while shopping one day, so it’s unbleached – which gives it more of an aged look as well!
