Merry Christmas 2 U with Sasha Halloway

I wanted to send you into the new year with a few old lines from Glitz. There are so many new collections that come into your space you have a hard time letting go right? This particular line is one of them. I love the colors and the brightness in the paper and the little chubby Santa’s well they are pretty cool to look at aye?
First up are the cards that I had a pretty good time making. I used the old Kringle Collection on both cards. If you want this collection for next year you can find it here at Monster Market Place.

Card1
The technique that I used on the card front flower is called Tea Bag folding there are so many ways to do this type of fold I just chose this particular fold for this card front. I used “Santa’s and Stripes.
Card2This next card used the same collection and decided to do a Tri-fold effect. I am really into making cards using this type of fold and I think I might make a few for the holidays instead of buying them this year.
Items used in card
Glitz Kringle Collection
American Crafts Thickers

Card 3
Last up is my layout. I think that I am a very clean scrapper at times and I prefer to keep it that way with certain lines. Especially if the papers are either all dark or too busy to work with. My little rock star Elijah is always either singing or dancing and let me tell you .. he thinks he is really doing something.

I hope you guys have had a wonderful Holiday and it is not over yet we still have one more huge celebration among us New Years Day. With that being said I am off to work on something NEW.

Beautiful Tulle Cards with Kay Sibley

Hello everyone.  I hope you’re having a special holiday week!  Do you have any big New Year’s plans?  I think many people have a three day weekend.  Yay, I love it when that happens!
2011 is almost here and it’s a reminder to me of how quickly time passes.  I’ve had the privilege and thrill of being on the Glitz Design Team and it’s time for me to say goodbye.  I had such a wonderful experience and I can’t believe how quickly it went by!  First of all, I want to express my gratitude to DT leader Lea Lawson.  She believed in me when she asked me to join the team and I couldn’t have been more thrilled.  It was truly a crafting career highlight for me!  Thank you Lea!   Also, thank you to Erin, Ginger and Laura (the geniuses behind Glitz Design) for giving me the opportunity. Finally, to all of the other talented Design Team members, thank you for the inspiration you share week after week. I’ll miss all of you!
Now, on to my final “official” Design Team cards.  *sniff*  *sniff*  I immediately fell in love with the new and lovely Glitz Design Tulle collection!  The colors compliment the new product lines perfectly. The tulle is easy to work with and I love the texture it adds!  In fact, I love it so much that I used it not on one…but two cards!  :)

Love Frame with Tammy Tutterow

Earlier this month I shared a scrapbook page based on a sketch by Allison Davis.  When I first saw the sketch I immediately saw it’s design as inspiration for a simple and easy frame design.
Sketchframe1
I began by covering a 11″ x 9″ wooden photo frame with the yellow side of  “Floral” patterned paper from Glitz’s Scarlett collection.  After applying the paper, I sanded the edges and added Black Soot Distress Ink.
Sketchframe2
I created a focal area around the photo opening with the black side of the same patterned paper.  I added a simple machine sewing stitch border around the edge of it and Black Soot Distress Ink to the edges of the piece.  I cut a strip from scrap chipboard and covered it with the beige side of “Bouquet”.  I added Black Soot Distress Ink to the edges and adhered it to the frame just below the photo opening.
Sketchframe3
I covered chipboard letters from my scrap stash with the blue side of “Wallpaper”.  I sanded the edges of the letters and added Black Soot Distress Ink.  I adhered the letters in place and then coated each letter with Glossy Accents.
Sketchframe4
For an accent, I filled three small metal frames with little vignettes made from scrap paper (the black side of “Floral”), Scarlett Paper Layers, Scarlett Rub-ons, and Scarlett Cardstock Journaling Stickers (the yesterday, today, and tomorrow are cut from a larger sticker).  Once the paper pieces were assembled to the frames I adhered them to the frame and then filled the with Glossy Accents.

Christmas Wonder with Noel Culbertson

Hope, wonder, the Christmas story, family, fires, delight, togetherness… the most wonderful time of the year. It’s my namesake and the season that I look forward to from New Year’s on. Really is there anything better than Christmas? Frankly, I’m not sure that there is. This year we get to pull out all of the stops celebrating with everyone home safe and sound. There is much to be thankful for.

Christmas Wonder
I love all of the fabulous goodness of the latest Glitz lines. So perfect for holidays, traditions and everything in between. I love the tulle for making ribbon and flowers and the Peek-a-Boos for adding that little something extra without overwhelming your design.

Happy Christmas Collage with Michelle Jackson-Mogford

Hi all, with the festive season upon us I thought I would share some fun and festive glitziness with you;

Happy Christmas
I love creating collages and paper dolls, my Christmas card last year was a print from a paper doll collage I made so I thought I’d do the same again this year, especially with all the gorgeous Glitz colours to play with. These collage projects are great for using up all the scraps we all keep and I have used a veritable feast of Glitzyness in this project so with a deep breath here is my shopping list;

Glitz Designs Love Nest papers; stripe, floral, polka and sky
Glitz Designs Scarlett papers; polka and stripe
Glitz Designs Hoopla papers; floral and polka
Glitz Designs Hoopla GlitzersGlitz Designs Hoopla cardstock stickers; titles
Glitz Designs frosting; pink/clear
Glitz Designs Glitzers; circles
Glitz Designs Teeny Alphas; Red block

Phew! I have scrapped this page in A4 UK size (which is about 8 ¼’’ x 11 ¾’’) I sketched out my scene and then pieced my papers together to create a background on the Love Nest stripe base. Using a decorative cutter on different green papers I cut strips for my tree layers and used the bunting from the hoopla cardstock titles in the top corner, I cut the strip to allow me to ‘curve’ the bunting on the page.

I then decorated the tree with the circle glitzers (I love Glitzer stickers, with a clear base you can see through and bling encapsulated in them they are so easy to use!) I also added some pink frosting for extra sparkle.

I made some parcels, stacking them up and adding contrasting ribbons, inking all the edges to add definition.

I then made my paperdolls using white card and coloured them in with pencils and making clothes from my selection of Glitz papers, inking edges to create shape. I printed head shots of me and my husband to go on the dolls.

After dressing the dolls I added them to my page on foam pads for extra dimension.

I added further decoration to my scene with Glitz frosting gems on the shoes and the hats, a star for the tree and the balloons from the Hoopla Glitzers.

Of course a family scene wouldn’t be complete without Stan and Ollie so I printed out a small photo of the dogs, cut them out and made antlers for them. I added my title using the teeny alphas and sat the boys on top of the letters.

With a bit of extra bling here and there and final touches my fun festive scene was complete, well it makes me smile!

I will scan my page and create prints for the front of my card blanks and send out some festive Glitzy fun to my family and friends for Christmas. What will you create today that will put a Glitzy smile on your face? Whatever it is I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very happy and safe Christmas and may all your festive wishes come true. I’ll see you soon and until then, as ever, Happy Crafting
Love

Snow Fun with Tammy Tutterow

Every so often I find myself thinking about making a layout.  If you know me, you know that I am a self proclaimed “stuff” maker.  I make things.  It isn’t that I don’t like pages, I just struggle with them.  I find that when I want to make pages a good sketch helps me get going and makes the process much easier for me.  Recently I found a sketch by Allison Davis that gave me a real spark and inspired me to make a page.
Snowpage1a
I had a group of winter pictures that I had been wanting to make into a page for a while.  I decided that the Glitz Hoopla collection was the paper to use.  Yes, I know, when you look at Hoopla you probably think birthdays and celebrations, but the beautiful shades of blue in the collection had me thinking about ice and snow.
Snowpage2
I used Hoopla “Frames” for the base page, “Zebra” for the white mat and photo mats, “Pipework” for the pattern, and “Polka” for the paper strip under the ribbon.
Snowpage3
I used adhesive foam squares under my photos to lift them off of the page and make them stand out.
Snowpage4
I found these clear Heidi Swapp snowflakes in my stash.  The back side of them are curved making a trough shape.  I filled the trough with Crystal Stickles.  Once the Stickles was dry I adhered the snowflakes smooth side up.  The finished effect makes it look almost like glass filled with sparkles.
Snowpage5
To record the date, I used a Hoopla Journaling Cardstock sticker.  I sanded the sticker a bit on the surface and on the edges so that it would accept Distress Ink.
Snowpage6
I used Rock Candy Distress Crackle paint on the “Pipework” pattern to add a frosty and icy effect.  Each element was inked with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.
Snowpage7
The glitter letters I used for the title are by American Crafts.

Seasonal Layouts with Lisa Andrews

Although Glitz doesn’t typically do themed products lines, I think that there are still so many possibilities when wanting a Christmas or seasonal layout with their products.

For my first layout share today, I want to show a Christmas themed layout.

Last December my family did a 5K Reindeer Run. It was a bit of a challenge, but we finished! We are looking forward to doing it again this year.

I really like the big tags with the months of the year! Such a cool new Glitz product.

My next layout is all about winter and sledding. The blue colors in both the Love Nest and Hoopla lines were perfect for creating a frosty feeling on this layout.

I love using the Peek a Boo Transparencies. One thing I always try to do when I use these is to layer something on top of the transparency. The layering gives me a place to hide the adhesive.

Also, don’t you love the look of the giant rhinestones? I figure one cannot have enough bling!

Noel Cards with Kay Sibley

Tis’ the season to be jolly!  Oh, how I love this time of the year!  I can’t believe Christmas is less than two weeks away.  I adore everything about the holiday and certainly crafting is one of those things.  Personally, I love lots of sparkly this time of the year so I was happy to add some glittery goodness to these cards.  I also used some gorgeous vintage inspired Glitz Design products.  Although Glitz Design doesn’t offer a holiday product line, it’s still easy to make holiday themed items with their goodies!
