Tis the Season with Leah Farquharson

I know that Glitz Designs doesn’t make any specifically holiday themed products, but I’d say this worked out pretty nicely! ^_^ I love how the vintage color combo totally reminds me of my grandma’s house during Christmas.

Pictured, you’ll see our unconventional tree from last year with feathers. It looked so cool with the lights – like snow, really! And some of the homemade rum truffles that I make and give away every year.

OMGoodness….You have no idea how much IN LOVE I am with those 2 collections!!!! I have been working with Kismet and LOVE the quality of the paper…but those 2 new collections ROCK MY WORLD!!!My favorite tradition to do with my family is Christmas Eve at my hubby’s grandmother’s house. She is 81, and we literally spend the ENTIRE day at her house. We play games, watch movies, sing Christmas carols, eat popcorn and hot chocolate…then when it is dark, we exchange gifts and each person tells something that they have been blessed with this year. I love to hear what the little ones say. THOSE are the moments that really matter!!!!

Marlene Hendricks Holguin Beautiful paper lines as usual. Okay my favorite tradition was with my brother. We would decorate everything that didn’t move inside and out of the house “over the top” as he would say. He passed away last year and my husband, kids and I now decorate for him “over the top”.

Happy Holidays!!!

The Glitz Girls

Merry Christmas Cards with Courtney Baker

I’ve been playing with some more Glitz goodies and making Christmas cards. I actually used several of the Love Nest papers in my December Daily this year. And although they aren’t technically Christmas papers, they look great. I’m still working on Christmas cards, so I thought I’d use some of those same papers for my cards.

For my first card I used two of the “Love Nest” whatnots. I love how easy it is to make any holiday card with the little calendar.
Supplies:
Glitz Design “Love Nest” Papers: Block
Glitz Design “Love Nest” Whatnots

Glitz Design “Love Nest” Peek-A-Boo
Glitz Design Teeny Alpha Black Round
Glitz Design Red Tulle

For this card, I really started with the “Hoopla” Journaling Cardstock Sticker in the center.
Supplies:
Glitz Design “Love Nest” Papers: Polka, Block
Glitz Design “Hoopla” Journaling Cardstock Stickers

Glitz Design “Love Nest” Peek-A-Boo

My Beautiful Captor with Michelle Jackson-Mogford

Hi all, I am so enjoying playing with all the new Glitz lines and fun products that they have brought to us. Hoopla is a really fresh and funky collection that is perfect for recording birthday and celebration memories, but also perfect for lots of other projects like this wintery offering I have for you today.

My beautiful captor

This page is a record of the 10 days I was trapped in our village in January this year due to a sudden heavy snow fall, it was very beautiful looking at the snow laden trees on the lane and Stanley my dog loved playing in the fields but it was very isolating and oh so cold! I think the colours of the hoopla collection lend themselves very well to the wintery subject and here is my Glitzy shopping list:

Glitz Designs Hoopla papers; Polka, pipework and frames
Glitz Designs Hoopla cardstock stickers; journaling
Glitz Designs Fancy frames rub ons
Glitz Designs Pom Poms; white/red/pink
Glitz Designs Tulle; Aqua
Glitz Designs giant rhinestones; green

I love the pattern of the pipework paper that I used as my base, there’s so much to look at in one piece of paper! I used a strip of the polka paper to give my photo grounding on the page and added a fancy frame rub on to further create a focal point to be built on, while also tying in the black around the edges of the patterned paper.

Next I cut off a length of the aqua tulle from the 12’’ long strip. I think this card of lovely coloured tulle is so much fun to play with and has so much potential to be used in different ways. I used some white acrylic paint to adhere my tulle to the page while also creating a snowy feel to the material. Because acrylic paint is a plastic based paint it is great to use as a decorative adhesive, just be patient waiting for the blobs of paint to start drying! Scrunching the tulle up also adds texture and intensifies the colour of it in places.

To tie in the use of the paint I also added it quite roughly to the bottom corner of the paper strip and to the top right corner of the page.

Using the lovely blue colour on the reverse of the frames paper I created a distressed mat for my photo and then had a play with the fun new pom poms. Using the white pom poms as snowballs I tied a loop in the cord that I hooked over the top corner of my photo, securing with some silicon glue and tucking a little of the cord behind. I trimmed off the excess cord to use later.

In the bottom right hand corner of the page I created a small embellishment for my journaling using one of the card stock stickers and scraps of paper to tie the page together as well as adding in some ribbon and lace that I used under the main photo and the little bit of excess cord I trimmed from my pom poms.

Using more scraps from the frames and polka paper I punched out some snowflakes and brushed them with some stickles for extra wintery sparkle ….

…. adding them in clusters around my layout, making a main feature under the corner of the photo by using 2 of the fabulous Glitz Designs giant rhinestones in the prettiest green colour alongside them.

Finally adding my jounalling to record the memory, my wintery page was complete. Glitz products come in such pretty colours and all co-ordinate beautifully and I really enjoyed working with the colours in the Hoopla line, by playing on the turquoise and aqua colours a seemingly bright and spring coloured collection can look quite wintery and I hope you have fun recording some Glitzy winter memories this year!
As ever thanks for stopping by, and if the temperature is starting to plummet with you stay wrapped up, safe and warm, see you soon with a Glitzy festive offering and until then Happy Crafting

Christmas Tags with Emeline Seet

Happy December !!
The sound of hustling and bustling for the holiday season is ringing sweetly and we’re all wrapping and preparing for the coming Christmas! I have always loved Christmas, the meaning behind it and beautiful, rich colorful decorations!
These tags were created with a red and teal color combination in mind. Teal is often my “go to” colors when it comes to creating with paper and glue.

Make a tag or two this season, i’m sure it will bring your gift giving to a whole new level!
Supplies:
Glitz Designs Scarlett paper (Stripe, polka)
Glitz Designs Scarlett Rub On
Glitz Designs Love Nest Paper
Glitz Designs Pom Poms

Being a Glitz Design Altered gal, all this while, I get to create off the page items. This time, since we were given an option to swop one altered item, I chose to create a layout.
Year end means resolution making and although I am not one who will abide by my resolutions, I thought I’ll create a page with a similar theme. I was inspired by a quote by Joseph Cambell
“We must be willing to let go of the life we planned
so as to have the life that is waiting for us.
The Old skin has to be shed
before the New one can come”

Supplies:
Glitz Designs Love Nest paper (stripe, damask, block)
Glitz Designs Scarlett paper (Polka)
Glitz Designs Scarlett Rub On
Glitz Designs distressing stamps
Glitz Designs Love Nest Paper
Glitz Designs Giant Rhinestone (pink)

Happy Holidays and see you again with a new post next Year!

Scrapping the Old with Tracie Hudson

Whilst sorting through an old box I came across this photo booth photograph of my Grandma and a young girl, which was taken in 1937. Not being exactly sure who the young girl was, I gave my Mom a quick call to see if she may know….and thankfully she did….it was my Moms older sister.
Mom and I chatted for a while about the good old days and it was wonderful to hear the sentiment in her voice as she remembered her childhood days – that’s when I decided to set to work and create an album filled with the “good old days” photographs as a Christmas gift, especially for her.

I couldn’t resist using product from Glitz Love Nest collection to kick start the album, which is filling up rather nicely :D
Product used – Glitz Designs Love Nest “Polka” patterned paper, Journaling blocks, Glitzers, Whatnots, Paper Layers and Giant Rhinestones.
With Christmas less than two weeks away Ive been busy decking the halls and making our home as festive as can be – Christmas has always been my favourite season – I love the sights, smells and sounds of this festive time of year.
The wall in my office was looking a bit bare so I whizzed up this cute little Festive Wreath using a simple but effective paper curling technique, as well as mixing some older Glitz papers with some new.
Product used – Glitz Designs Love Nest “Block” and Vintage Love “Polka” and “Stripe” Patterned papers.
Ive still presents left to wrap so I better get going, but before I leave I want to
Wish you all a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Peaceful New Year.

Glitz & Glamour with Michelle Jackson-Mogford

Hi all, today I’d like to share with you some ‘Glitz and glamour’ I have been lucky enough to be on the fabulous Glitz Design team for over a year now and every time I get my Glitz box out to play I find myself in the happiest of moods, not only is the product so edible to look at but the quality is second to none. Looking back over the last year of my time with Glitz I came across this project which was one of the first things I made with my first official Glitz DT box of goodies and as this time of year is all about looking back and being thankful I thought it would be fun to share it with you today.

Putting on the Glitz
It is a super simple handbag mini book that looks glamorous on my shelf as a piece of home decor and contains special memories of a birthday cruise I went on with my husband, the photos I will share in this post will explain the story as we go! Before we start, here is my shopping list;

Glitz Designs Plum Crazy papers; floral, stripe, polka, circles, chair and diamonds
Glitz Designs Plum Crazy cardstock stickers; titles and journaling
Glitz Designs Plum Crazy alpha cardstock stickers
Glitz Designs Olivia Glitzers
Glitz Designs flourish rub ons
Glitz Designs distressing round clear stamp

The front and back of the mini book are cut into a simple handbag shape and the 2 sides are linked with a concertina of paper with mounted photos stuck into each crease so when the bag is opened all the photos kind of fan out, it’s quite impressive in its simplicity!

I kept each page a 6’’x4’’ photo mounted onto some of the fabulous double sided paper. I cut it with a thin decorative edge showing behind the photo to add interest, and was able to journal on the reverse.

As I wanted the photo to be the main focus of each page I added some simple embellishments of lace and ribbon and a small piece of flourish rub on as well as a cream flower that I sprayed with an intense, very sparkly cosmic shimmer mist to each photo.

I kept the same simple embellishment of each photo throughout the book to create continuity

I used the fabulous round distress stamp on the reverse of each photo page to create a background pattern.

I then added cardstock stickers and hand cut and distressed journaling strips throughout to tell my story.

Although the end of the story may not be quite as glamorous as it set out LOL I love my little bag of Glitz and glamour as it reminds me of such a happy time and as it says in the sticker it makes me stop and remember sometimes how really Happy I am to be me!

I hope you feel inspired to create your own little piece of Glitzy glamour, a simple idea like this would make a great Christmas gift wouldn’t it! Thanks for stopping by and sharing a little reminisce with me. I’ll see you soon, until then Happy Crafting
Love
