Like Father, Like Sones with Leah Farquharson

We don’t always have a lot of occasions to get all dressed up for, so when we all went to a wedding last December, it was fun to see the boys dressed up like their daddy! They all look so handsome together – but I know I’m biased!

Supplies: Glitz Designs: Love Games Whatnots, Love Games PeekaBoos, Love Games Glitzers, Love Games Scorecard, Love Games Titles Cardstock stickers,  Stripes, Poppies, and Polka papers, Olive Green Teeny Alphas, Laced with Grace Title Cardstock stickers, Laced with Grace Glitzers, Afternoon Muse chipboard album page. Other: ribbon: craft supply, chipboard letters: American Crafts, Buttons: Jenni Bowlin, Lace: Prima.

And this past weekend, I was busy with MANY things – one of which was getting this cake put together for our niece’s first birthday!

Supplies: Glitz Designs: Laced with Grace Polka, Floral, Stripe papers, Parchment Teeny Alphas, Afternoon Muse PeekaBoos, Afternoon Muse Journaling Cardstock Stickers, Laced with Grace Whatnots, Laced with Grace Journaling Cardstock Stickers, Love Games Journaling Cardstock Stickers. Other: Chipboard letters: American Crafts.

This is my final post as a Glitz Designs team member! I’ve so enjoyed my time here on the team – and the ladies have always been so generous! I’m going to be super busy in the upcoming months with some amazing ventures, so I needed to make some tough choices and unfortunately, that meant letting go of a few things… I’ll definitely continue to keep an eye out for all the lovely upcoming products from this talented company!

Note from Lea:  We will miss you, Leah!  Good luck in all of your future endeavors!!

Saying Goodbye to Spring with Laurie Schmidlin

A great big happy Friday to you!  It is hard to believe that May is almost over, but I am so looking forward to summer!  :-)

With the end of May, comes a goodbye to Spring until next year.  Before that happens, I thought I would sneak in a few more Spring inspired, blossom filled cards!

GD Fun Vintage Flowers

Oh how I love the Laced with Grace Collection!  Warm, serene, flower filled…just like a beautiful Spring afternoon!

GD Fun Vintage Flowers (Close-Up)

Ok, I cannot get enough of these Glitzers!!  Vintage stickers that have itty bitty rhinestones on them already??  That is what I call perfection!  :-)

GD Feel Better Soon

My next card has a different feel to it, using some fabulous Love Games papers!  I warmed the gray and cream color scheme up just a bit by adding another gorgeous Glitzer!

GD Feel better Soon (Close-Up)

I stamped the frame (from the Love Games clear stamp set) onto vellum, trimmed it, adhered it to my card, and stamped a sentiment on the flowing banner.  Instead of ribbon, I pleated some Love Games gray/black paper and adhered that across my card.

I’m so glad you stopped by today!  Have a wonderful weekend!  ~Laurie

Happy Mother's Day
As a military wife, I’ve spent my fair share of holidays alone or at least husband-less… birthdays, Christmases, anniversaries, and yes, Mother’s Days. Lucky for me I’ve got a couple of little girls who have always been pretty on the ball, even without Daddy there to remind them. This year they got up nice and early, brewed me a pot of coffee and showered me with homemade presents. One of my favorites was this one. A rotating picture with the brief history of my life. They sat on either side of me and rolled the story along. Who knew a few toilet paper rolls, an old gift box and typing paper could be so much fun? I hope your Mother’s Day was as blessed as mine was!

Paper Layers Cards with Kristii Lockart

Happy Wednesday dear friends!!! I can’t believe that Memorial Day is around the corner!  Whether you will be traveling on the first summer holiday of the year, or if you will be home doing yard work and cleaning your house, it’s also a good time to build up your card stash for dear friends and loved ones. I used Glitz Designs Paper Layers to help me with this task!
In my first card, the beautiful rose pattern in the Paper Layer inspired me to make a heartfelt sympathy card.  I don’t know about you, but sympathy cards are hard to make with all the emotion involved and it is nice to have a few on hand to give to those special friends whose hearts are grieved.

I didn’t want to take away from the beauty of the Paper Layer, so I stamped the sentiment on vellum and hand-stitched the vellum strip to the face of the card.

Supplies used:

Glitz Designs “Laced with Grace” Paper Layers

Other supplies:
Papertrey Ink:   Melon Berry and Vintage Cream cardstock, Double Ended Banner and Banner Borders dies, Through the trees stamps; Vellum; DMC Floss; Fiskars Scallop Punch; Pink Paislee Butterfly Garden Ephemera.

In my second card, the butterflies in the Laced with Grace Paper Layer inspired me to create a card that I know that I will need for a friend when I least expect it.

Aren’t the butterflies on this Paper Layer beautiful?

Supplies Used:
Glitz Designs “Laced With Grace” Paper Layers
Glitz Designs “Afternoon Muse” Stripe Paper
Other Supplies:  Papertrey Ink: Kraft and Hawaiian Shorescardstock, buttons, lemon tart ribbon, Tiny Tags Die, Flower Fusion #2 stamp set; Prima Lace; Pink Paislee Butterfly Garden Ephemera; DMC Floss; Fiskars Scallop Punch.
I hope this inspires you to make some cards for your stash.
You never know when you will need a card for that special someone!!
Thanks for stopping by and
I wish you a very Glitzy Day!!!

Afternoon Muse Frame with Tammy Tutterow

I am absolutely in love with this sunny yellow (Blocks) patterned paper from Glitz Designs Afternoon Muse collection.  It is just the perfect shade of yellow to create a cheery feeling on any project.

Yellow1

I used the paper to cover a purchased photo frame that I picked up on clearance.  I decoupaged the paper to the frame using Matte Multi Medium.  Once the adhesive was dry, I sanded and inked all of the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

Yellow2

I embellished the side of the frame with the coordinating Stripe patterned paper.  I used a paper punch to add a decorative edge and added machine stitching and ink along the edge before adhering to the frame.

Yellow3

I stamped a corner design in the lower right corner and added a cluster of embellishments along the side over the striped patterned paper.  I wrapped a bit of crinkled dyed seam binding around the frame (while the glass and insert was removed).  I stucked a vintage image Whatknot under the ribbon and then added layers of paper flowers.

Yellow5

The paper flowers are assorted papers from the collection that were cut using the Tim Holtz Tattered Florals die.  After cutting the flowers, I placed them on a foam pad and worked the surface of them with a round tip embossing stylus.  This helped shape the paper into a dome shape.  After shaping, I edged each flower with Vintage Photo Distress Ink and then coated them with Rockin on Sunshine Glimmer Glam.  Once the glam was dry, I layered the assorted flowers with gemstone brads.

Yellow7

The leaves were cut freehand and created the same way.  I love that because the papers are double sided you get peeks of other colors and patterns from the curved petals.
When I adhered the striped layer, I left the punched edge free from adhesive so that it would lift for the surface a bit and add an extra bit of dimension.

Yellow8

On a few of the die cut flowers, I cut the petals apart so that they would have a little more dimension.

Yellow9

I cut a single penant off of a Peek-a-Boo penant strip.  I trimmed the excess clear border from the penant and then inserted it onto a long stick pin.  I pierced the pin into cluster and added an adhesive foam square under the flag to lift it up off of the surface.

Yellow10

I punched a heart using a scrap of paper, inked the edges, and then topped it with a Glitzers sticker that says “enjoy”.  I tucked the heart into the flower cluster and adhered it in place with and adhesive foam square.

Being Mom with Mou Saha

Hi there Glitz blog readers, Mou Saha here with today’s layouts.
My first layout is in honor of mothers everywhere… and how motherhood changes you.

I added my title using Cream Teeny Alpha right onto my self-portrait and placed the transparent overlay on top of the photo.

I attached handcut butterflies around the transparency to hide my adhesive.
Love how this butterfly has two young faces on its wings… perfectly meaningful accent as they represent my two kids for me.

My second layout is rather bittersweet… about the fleeting childhood days of my kids. How I want them to grow up and see and be proud of what they become and yet, there’s a part in me that wants to hold on to them just like they are right now!

I free handcut two flower stems and attached them near the photo using foam tape for some added dimension.

I added a torn border from Laced With Grace Rose paper with illustrations of children and pets playing together to finish my page.
