Laced with Grace Card Set with Laurie Schmidlin

Hi there!  As June comes to an end, I thought I would share a few more flower filled cards all wrapped up in a custom box!
I not only love to make cards, but I love to give card sets as gifts!  In fact, it’s one of the most requested item from friends and family!
GD Card Box
I created a little box to hold several mini cards using several goodies from the Laced with Grace collection!  The front of the box is decorated with a Laced with Grace Cardstock Sticker, buttons, trim, and a matching flower.
GD Card Box1
Each of the cards are 4″ square and come with an envelope.  For embellishments on this card, I added a Cardstock Sticker and Glitzer (all from the Laced with Grace collection).
GD Card Box2
For this card, I started by stamping the background (with the Laced with Grace Clear Stamps).  I then topped it off with a Glitzer and a sentiment!
GD Card Box3
For this card, I wanted to the beautiful rose frame stamp (from the Laced with Grace Clear Stamps).  Because I was going for a softer look, I thought a chalked look would work nicely.  After stamping the image with Versamark ink, I added some color using my chalks and some cotton swabs.
GD Card Box4
For this last card, I added a background layer using some of the Laced with Grace Paper Layers!  A stamped sentiment surrounded by a decorative Glitzer completes it.
GD Card Box5
Here’s a photo of the gift box, cards, and envelopes all together.  I just love how all of the items from the Glitz collections work so well together!  It sure helped me to whip up this gift in no time flat!
I’m so glad you joined me today!  I hope your day is filled with creativity!  ~Laurie

Altered Journals with Kristii Lockart

Happy Wednesday dear friends!!  I am excited to share some fun and easy gifts using Glitz Design Paper Layers today!  I don’t know about you, but I am always needing a quick gift for a friend and I never seem to have that special something on hand.  Well, today, we are going to take care of that problem and you will always have a special homemade gift right within reach!

It seems that altered Moleskine Journals are all the rage these days.  You can alter them in many different ways from a simple stamp alteration to a full blown scrapbook page type cover.  You can find Moleskine Journals with blank pages for an art journal or you can use lined pages for a written journal.  They come in regular, large or extra large sizes and they also come in several different colors. Today, I chose to use the Kraft Moleskine Cahier Large Ruled Notebook (5.25 x 8.25) for the base of my project:

then, I found my favorite Glitz Design Paper Layers and got to work and this is what I came up with:

I layered some Glitz Design “Love Games” Poppies patterned paper on top of the journal and added a slightly smaller Glitz Design “Laced with Grace paper layer on top.  Then I embellished with lace, buttons, vintage ephemera, Afternoon Muse Peekaboo, florals and ribbon.  It took no time at all to decorate the notebook and now I have a special gift for that dear friend who needs encouragement or just a little gift to brighten her day!!

I added a pen, bookmark, and a list of journal prompts to complete the ensemble and before I give it away, I will tie the entire package with a bow.
Supplies used:
Glitz Design “Love Games” Poppy Patterned Paper
Glitz Design “Laced With Grace” Paper Layer
Glitz Design “Afternoon Muse” Peekaboo
Other Supplies:  Prima Lace and Floral; Papertrey Ink Buttons and Button Twine; Hand dyed Seam Binding; Pink Paislee Butterfly Garden Vintage Ephemera

I liked the project so much I decided to use a card I made with Glitz Design Goodies as the inspiration for another altered journal.  The Glitz Design Afternoon Muse Paper Layer I used is my favorite design by Glitz!  Sigh…I may have to buy more of these Paper Layers for sure!!!

Supplies used:
“Glitz Design Afternoon Muse Collection” Paper Layers
“Glitz Design Afternoon Muse Collection” Paper: Banner
Papertrey Ink Cardstock: Kraft and Rustic Cream
Vintage Hymnal Music
PTI Button Twine and Button
Stamp: PTI Embellisments
Ribbon: MemrieMare
Floral: Recollections
I hope this idea inspires you to make up some gifts to give to those who are special in your life!!
Nothing makes my heart happier than giving a homemade gift to a friend!!
Have a Glitzy Day,

Home Decor Piece with Michelle Jackson-Mogford

Hi all!

Last month I had the pleasure of teaching at the Scrap-a-Mia retreat and loved being able to share some of the Glitz Designs papers from the Aftenoon Muse line with the delegates. This is what I created;

A scrappy piece of home decor.

When you look closely there are so many colours in the Afternoon Muse line we were able to mix things up a bit so everyone could have a colour scheme that suited them from lilac to peach!

We constructed the cage from mountboard, covering it in paint and stamps and the Glitz papers made the pop up frame in the centre which was double sided so it looks good from all angles.

With the addition of some elements sheets put together from old scraps and some handmade net flowers there was a veritable feast of birdcages to coo over.

Remember somtimes when you look at pattern paper really look at it to see what other colours are lurking and also don’t always see it as a solid sheet of pattern, imagine small flashes of it within a project and you’ll be surprised how different that one piece of paper can look!

Thanks for stopping by, I’ll be back soon, until then Happy Crafting

Glitzy Packaging with Michelle Philippi

I’m soooo excited to share today’s craftyness with you. If you know anything about me, you know that I love me some pretty packaging. And if you didn’t know that about me – welcome to my fun lil’ secret *giggles* My friends over at May Arts sent me some beautiful ribbons to work with that I was able to match with this great apple green gingham bag and lots of fun elements from Glitz’s Love Games collection.
I just love that I was able to coordinate all these funky colors together!
Ohhh what a perfect look! – sometimes these colors are hard to match, and sometimes the perfect complement is right in front of you; love it when that happens!
My initial idea was to stitch 4 strips of the ribbon across the bottom half of the patterned paper.
So I started stitching away.
And when I had 2 done I decided that 4 would be too many.
So I tried topping the 2 ruffle layers with one to see how that looked.
And I liked this far better than my original vision.
And then I made a pretty bow to top it off with. I hand-make big pretty bows for all my Christmas packages…just like they do at the fancy department stores. It’s really easy. If you don’t know what the secret is, I’ll spill it for ya’: wire-edged ribbon ;)
There’s something so magical about a perfect flouncy bow. It’s so girly and frilly and fun, isn’t it?
And then I layered some vintage diecuts from Glitz behind my ribbon before adhering it with hot glue.
I threw a wooden clothespin in there for a piece that was less-bright – and I applied some vintage ink to it to tone even that down.
And then I added some faux stitching around the top for an even more homespun feel.
And here we have it – a beautiful gift bag ready for gift-giving.
This little bag will put all those store-bought bags on the present table to shame.
I was still in crafty mode when I finished that bag so I jumped right on to another bag. More pretty wire-edged ribbon from May Arts, and more patterned paper and diecuts from Glitz.

Lovely Floral Cards with Michelle Philippi

I’m not a fan of summer. Really not. I don’t do heat well. I’d much rather be inside in the air-conditioning watching some reality TV or sitting at my craft table. There are however a couple of things I love about summer, albeit very important things: produce and flowers. Summer fruits and veggies like strawberries, grilled corn, watermelon, artichokes, cantaloupe and…(I could go on forever)…just make my palate come alive. Cannot find those flavors in produce year-’round. At least not here in Idaho. And flowers. Big blooming bountiful roses are a sight to behold. So soft are their petals and so strong is their scent. {love}
So with that in mind I decided to whip up some cards featuring the flowers of summer that I so love.

Warm Summer Cards with Laurie Schmidlin

Hello again!  It’s Laurie, and I’m back to share a couple of summer inspired cards with you!
Vintage Fun
First up, is a card designed with colors that remind me of a warm summer afternoon!  I combined some papers, Whatnots, & a Glitzer from the Afternoon Muse line with a clear stamp (the ornate corner) from the Laced with Grace line!
Vintage Fun (Close-up)
I adore Glitzers!  Beautiful vintage images with lovely mini rhinestones…what could be better?  :-)
And now, I have a more vintage elegant card to share with you.  Since summer is a time for weddings, I thought I would create a classically elegant card to celebrate love!
Old Fashioned Love
This card came together so quickly!  I embossed the heart onto a Cardstock Sticker (from the Love Games collection), and the Love sentiment directly onto the patterned paper!  I kept the embellishments to a minimum as I wanted the stamped images to really take center stage.
I’m so glad you stopped by today!  ~Laurie

Canvas Decor Piece with Tammy Tutterow

I wanted to create a canvas decor piece to highlight the fun title piece about holding hands from Glitz Design’s Love Games collection.  I took my design inspiration for a layout sketch by Allison Davis at

I covered my canvas with Love Games Floral for my base layer.  I used Claudine Hellmuth Studio Matte Multi Medium to adhere the paper to the canvas.  After the medium was dry, I sanded the edges of the paper on the canvas and brushed on Black Soot Distress Ink.

I cut two pieces of Love Games Polka (one 5″x7″ and one 5 1/4″x7 1/4″).  I adhered both pieces to chipboard, sanded the edges and applied ink.  I layered the two pieces and adhered them to the center of the canvas.  I bent a Tim Holtz Idea-ology Game Spinner in half to create clip to “hold” the Holding Hands Whatnot in place.

I added a few spritzes of Burnt Red Glimmer Mist to a white Bazzill Fabric Flower.

I moved layers of the flower and misted in between layers near the center of the flower.  The fabric wicked the color.  I love how it is mixed, with some areas still white and some different shades of red.

Above the flower I added two Whatnots and a clear Peek-a-Boo.  I sanded the edges of the Whatnots and inked them with the Black Soot ink.  I added a Glitzer sticker to the front of the Peek-a-Boo framing the number 1 design.  On the back of the Peek-a-Boo, I added red to the design with a Copic Marker and colored in the 1 with Mellow Yellow Glimmer Glaze.  I added two Tim Holtz Idea-ology Game Spinners as well.

In the upper right corner I added three 2″x2″ squares of Paper Layers.  Each piece was adhered to chipboard and inked.  I added a Glitzer sticker to each following the design in the original sketch.

patterned paper: Glitz Design Love Games Floral and Polka; Glitz Design Love Games Paper Layers

Glitzy Stamped Cards with Kristii Lockart

Happy Monday dear friends!! I’ve been having some fun with Glitz Designs Whatnots and stamps today!!  First up is a sweet little card using Clear Stamps and Whatnots from the from the Laced with Grace Collection and  papers and stickers from the Afternoon Muse Collection.  I love that these lines are so easy to mix and match!  It totally gets my creative juices flowing knowing that the possibilities are endless!!

I stamped the top and bottom of the card base.  The top stamp is the newsprint from the Laced with Grace Collection. I just love the newsprint design! I will keep it close by my craft table because I know it’s one I will use continually!!

I cut out the Whatnots so I could pair the cute little boy and girl with the heart.  Love the way that turned out! I added a little bloom from my stash to add some more sweetness to the focal point.  I layered the Afternoon Muse Banner paper with the Afternoon Muse cardstock stickers to add visual interest.  Such a fun little card to give to a good friend!

Supplies Used:
Glitz Design “Afternoon Muse” paper:  Banner
Glitz Design “Afternoon Muse” stamps

Next up is a less feminine approach just perfect for a husband and wife relative or friend you may be missing.  I paired up the Afternoon Muse Hot Air Balloon stamp and Peek a Boo transparencies with a Laced with Grace Paper Layer.

I stamped the hot air balloon three times, fussy cut and paper pieced them together onto the paper layer.  I also cut the Peek a Boo frame and used it to add a splash of color to the top of my card.

I added some lace, burlap and buttons to add texture to the card.

Supplies Used:
Glitz Design “Afternoon Muse” Papers:  Carte Postal and Banner
Glitz Design “Afternoon Muse” Stamps
