Fall Decor with Kristii Lockart

Hi there friends!  I trust you are having a fabulous day!!!  It’s a little warm here in Montana, but the air is nice and crisp in the mornings.  You can see a hint of color in the trees and you know that fall is definitely in the air!  This weekend I couldn’t help but pull out all my fall decorations.  It seemed, however that my collection was missing a few things.  I don’t know what I did with them, but I was motivated to grab my Glitz Design Laced with Grace papers and  make some new decorations to brighten up my walls!

I started with a fall quote, “Everyone must take time to sit and watch the leaves turn” by Elizabeth Lawrence, and then I pulled out my Serenade Cricut Cartridge and this is what I came with:

I played with the quote using Photoshop Elements and the Papyrus font and I really like the way it turned out.  I spritzed the background paper with Tattered Angels Coffee Shop Glimmer Mist to add some warmth to the rustic cream cardstock. I found the frame at Michael’s for 40% off and I cut the tree trunk out of the backside of Love Games Floral paper to match the frame.

I cut the butterflies out of the Laced with Grace Butterflies paper and coated them with Tim Holtz Rock Candy Distress Crackle Paint.  The crackle paint added lots of texture and a little shine.  I took some tea dye distress ink and worked it into the cracks and crevices of the crackle paint and then I added some pearls to each of them.

I cut the tree out at 8 3/4 inches and I used several Laced with Grace Papers for the leaves.  I added Laced with Grace Whatnots and Glitzers to finish out the scene.

After I finished the first project, I thought it would be fun to make a little banner for the shelf that hangs near the wall art I just created, and here’s what I came up with:

I cut out three pennants and covered them with Laced with Grace Papers and added a striped border to each of them.

I carried over the crackled butterfly to add some uniformity to my decorations.  I cut out some sweet little doilies out of rustic cream paper to mount them on and inked them all with tea dye ink.

I added some stitched felt leaves and die cut acorns.  I just love the sentiment on the banner, “Its the little things that matter most”,  Isn’t that so true?

I found the wreath at Joann’s fabrics to complete the ensemble.   Ahhhh….the gloriousness of fall!  All I needed was a little Glitz Design Magic!!

Heavenly layouts with Noel Culbertson

2011_0912_032a

The mark of fall for me always seems to be the morning fog. It fills the valley below our house, and the sun peeks up behind the mountains and kisses the fog with its orange glow. It’s one of my favorite parts of the earlier mornings of a new school year. However, fall mornings are a bustle of activity, and I am happy to steal away a few minutes to scrapbook the precious memories of a new school year with Glitz Designs supplies.

Lots of Layers with Camilla Eckman

Hi! It’s Camilla. Today I am going to share some Glitz layouts. In the first layout I have used the gorgeous Laced with Grace collection to scrap this photo of one of my nieces. She is having some yummy ice cream. The colours of the papers are fabulous to use for black and white photos.

To create a place for my title, I layered a Glitzers on top of a Journaling piece.

Material list:

Glitz Design “Laced With Grace” Papers: Polka, Butterflies, Rose, Plaid, Floral
Glitz Design “Laced With Grace” Glitzers
Glitz Design “Laced With Grace” Journaling
Glitz Design Teeny Alpha Cream
Other: Flowers (Prima), leaves (Prima), lace, bling swirls (Zva Creative), butterfly punches (Martha Stewart)

Next, I used a picture of my teenager standing in front of a brick wall. The colours of Love Games is a bit darker and goes perfectly to these pictures.

First I wanted to create a brickwall on the background paper. I used a mask and some gesso to create the effect.
And then I layered a few Paper Layers and a Peek-A-Boo behind the photo.

And also a Whatnot that also became the actual title of the layout.
The banner pieces are a part of the Journaling.
Material list:
Glitz Design “Love Games” Papers: Damask, Floral
Glitz Design “Love Games” Peek-A-Boo
Glitz Design “Love Games” Paper Layers
Glitz Design “Love Games” Whatnot
Glitz Design “Love Games” Journaling
Glitz Design Teeny Alpha Cream
Other: Flowers (Prima), leaves (Prima), Brick Wall Mask (Prima), gesso, string, Doily die (Cheery Lynn Designs)

Have a great week!
Camilla

Off the Edge cards with Iwona Palamountain

Hello paper lovers, I have a couple of cards for you tonight, and I hope you’ll like them as much as I do!

For the first card, I cut out the image from the Afternoon Muse paper. I really wanted to use it as a whole, and so I decided not to worry about the bits sticking out and making the card a non-standard size. It looks really lovely and works just fine for a dimension junkie like myself :)
I also added some texture with pleated ribbon and baker’s twine. I love the cheerful, retro look that this card is sporting :)

Glitz Design “Afternoon Muse” papers: Polka, Postal
Glitz Design “Afternoon Muse” Whatnot
Glitz Design “Afternoon Muse” Titles Cardstock Stickers

Other: cardstock: PTI; pleated ribbon: May Arts; baker’s twine

I took advantage of the patterned paper as well, for my next card. I cut the butterflies out of the Laced With Grace paper and embellished with Liquid Pearls.

Glitz Design “Laced With Grace” paper: Butterflies
Glitz Design “Laced With Grace” Whatnot
Glitz Design “Laced With Grace” Paper Layers
Glitz Design “Love Nest” Titles Cardstock Stickers
Glitz Design “Afternoon Muse” Titles Cardstock Stickers

Family Fun layouts with Nicole Martel

Last month while my family was at Jamie’s Graduation party, mom insisted on a grandchildren shot with momom and it’s always a big ordeal taking photos in my family because no one ever cooperates!! It’s so annoying… so having said this, here’s a layout of the photo that was taken. It will do… I decided to do something a little different and that was to play with layering a bit… and I love how this turned out! The patterns are gorgeous.

Since I was running low on embellies, I decided to make a few of my own! Try cutting patterns out of your papers and using them as embellishments on my layout like I did. Here are a few close ups!

Birthday Journal Gift Set with Michelle Philippi

One of my favorite parts of being a mom is birthdays. Theirs, mine and others’. I love the little cards and presents the kids make me for my birthday. I love planning and making invites and handmade goody bags for their birthday parties. And I love it when they are invited to a birthday party and I get to make the gift. My little girl asks me to make these little journals when she goes to birthday parties. I’m sure when she gets a little bit older these won’t be cool enough to give anymore. But for now, I’m enjoying it.
So I made this one for Ellie’s 8th birthday this weekend. I think little girls love personalized gifts so I added her name to this very girly place for her to write down her thoughts and secrets.

Perfect Weekend layouts with Michelle Jackson-Mogford

Hi all
Today it’s my turn to share some Glitz Design goodness with you so I thought I would create a couple of projects using up some of my scraps to make way for all the new Glitz goodies coming! My first project is

Anyone for Pimms?
A couple of weekends ago my husband took me to the Rewind 80’s festival in the beautiful Henley on Thames and we had the best time! I was transported back to my teenage years and had a ball singing my head off and dancing my wellies off to some great bands with 40,000 other people. We had a perfect British Sunday afternoon, the sun shone, the music was chilled out and the Pimms was fabulous. These pictures sum up my perfect weekend! As I said I used up lots of scraps all from the Afternoon Muse line;
Glitz Designs Afternoon Muse papers; Carte Postal, Polka, Block and Stripe
Glitz Designs Afternoon Muse embellishments; Peek-a-boos, Whatnots, Glitzers and Cardstock stickers titles and journaling
Glitz Designs Afternoon Muse clear stamps
Glitz Designs Teeny Alphas; Yellow block and Bubble gum pink

I built up lots of strips of papers across my base

Even cheating and using very thin scrappy bits as the bottom layer.

The Glitz Designs clear stamps are perfect for creating embellishments with scrap paper, and I did just that with the hot air balloon.

The Ferris wheel is cut from a Whatnot.

I layered up some of the cardstock stickers and Whatnots to add my journaling to and added the balloon on foam pads for dimension.

I attached the bunting peek-a-boo with a Glitzer at one end and the best day ever sticker at the other. My photos are on foam pads for dimension and the teeny alphas are perfect to finish of the title and journaling. Oh it really was a perfect day!

Talking of perfect the next layout is a picture of our grand daughter

Sophie Elizabeth
I love this photo of Sophie, it sums her up with that cheeky grin and makes us realise how quick she is growing up! I only used Laced with Grace for this layout and I think it’s a fun way to use up all my left over embellishments.
Glitz Designs Laced with Grace Paper; Rose, Floral and Butterflies
Glitz Designs Laced with Grace Embellishments; Paper layers, Whatnots, Glitzers, Peek-a-boos and Cardstock stickers Titles and Journalling.

I positioned the photo where I wanted it on the base paper, and then drew a rough circle around it, cutting it out of the paper with a craft knife.

I ripped around the circle and then tore back away from the edge, curling and folding the paper back. I then backed the hole with some of the floral paper and with a craft knife cut around some of the roses so I could slip my photo underneath them, kind of melding it into the paper.

I then gathered a whole host of embellishments with flowers on and set about cutting them up.

I arranged them around the frame, mixing up all the different textures and adding some on foam pads and Silicon gel for dimension. I cut a few butterflies from the paper, folding them up and curling the wings so they ‘settle’ on the flowers and added the bird Whatnot and a journaling sticker with a Glitzer to finish the piece off. I think this is a layout for an easel to put on display, so much more interesting than just a photo in a frame don’t you think?

I hope you have as much fun using up your scraps! Thanks for stopping by, I hope you’re well and happy and until soon as ever Happy Crafting
Love

Beautiful cards with Laurie Schmidlin

Good morning!  As I sat down to stamp, I was inspired to create using the previously released collections Love Nest and Hoopla!
GD Remember When2
Oh how I love the Love Nest collection!  Warm and pretty vintage hues, with distressed patterns…mmmm, mmm!  Here I paired several of the Love Nest papers with some coordinating Love Nest embellishments!
GD Oh Happy Day
I created my second card using the fun and bright Hoopla collection!  After making a small pocket (using some Hoopla patterned paper), I inserted a coordinating tag that can also later be used as a bookmark!  So fun!
GD Oh Happy Day2
Glitzers…lots and lots of Glitzers!!  I love it!  In fact, Glitzers might possibly be my favorite Glitz embellishment!  I especially love how well they stick, even across multiple layers!
Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I hope you get a chance to be creative today!  ~Laurie
