Step by Step Saturday with Audrey Yeager

Hello! Audrey here with you today to share a simple way to add some dimension to your Glitz Peek-A-Boos (transparencies).
1. Cut some shapes of different sizes and patterns from your transparencies.  Here I just hand cut three simple flower shapes from a Peek-A-Boo from the Happy Travels collection.
2. Set your oven to 250 degrees. Lay your pieces on a piece of parchment paper (baking paper) on a cookie sheet and place in the oven.  WATCH CAREFULLY.  The transparencies will start to curl on the edges.  These flowers are somewhat large and started to curl after about a minute, however small pieces curl much faster.

3.  Carefully remove, and, if desired, try to shape a bit more while still hot, if possible (use something to protect your hands!).  Otherwise let cool.  The heat warps the transparencies and gives them some fun lift!  You could also try this with a heat gun, as well, but be careful not to get too close to the transparency!

4. Try experimenting with different sized shapes and different patterns of transparencies!  These are some from Dance in the Sunshine.

5.  Make fun embellishments for your projects by layering your curled transparencies together!

Lovely Girl Layouts with Karola Witczak

Hello everyone! It’s Karola here with some new inspirations for you! For today’s post I’ve prepared 2 layouts – one real and one digital.
Combining elements from a few older collections I created a page with a funny photo of my daughter. When the photo was taken, she ate the breakfast and was very angry when she saw camera! Recently I uncovered this photograph anew and remind me about a funny birds from the “Angry Birds” game , you probably know it very well! I used here beautiful and very versatile paper with canvas pattern from French Kiss collection. I combined this background with papers from Happy Travels and Dance In Sunshine collections, using both papers and Paper Layers, Peek-a-Boo’s and gorgeous turquoise lace. I added also some fussy cutting, I couldn’t resist – look at these tiny, yellow roses!
As I mentioned before – the second layout for today is digi. I just love our Glitz Design Digi Kits! To create this page I used French Kiss Digital paper and Elements Kits  As you can see – I resize some elements, this way I had a very big stunning roses, which I cut out from one of the French Kiss labels (“stickers”). I resize also a few other elements to craete an interesting background. It’s no matter it is paper or digi layout – in bith techniques I love layering and here you can see also some layers…

Travel layout & Wall Hanging with Jolaine Frias

Hello there! I’m back to share my projects of the month and my first one is a layout using the beautiful Happy Travels collection. I pulled the neutral colors in this collection to scrap a photo of my kids waiting at the airport terminal during a recent vacation. I was so proud at how well behaved they were, those wait times can be really difficult!

I layered pattern paper and doilies to add depth to my page. I also tucked in small crochet doilies thoughout my page along with stickers and transparencies from the collection. Here’s a closer look…

I have been having fun lately creating off-the-page projects lately and decided to make a home decor item for my second project. Again, using neutral colors in the French Kiss and Pretty In Pink collections, I made this wall hanging of our family name. I thought it would look great in our entryway!

I used five pieces of heavy weight chipboard as a base and jumprings to conect them together. The colors were just perfect and go really well with the rest of my house. To keep my wall hanging from getting to frilly for a home decor piece, I kept things simple by repeating the design in each panel. This project was hard to photograph while hanging on the wall so I took it outside to give you a close-up of each panel…

Thanks so much for stopping by today, I hope you found some inspiration :) Enjoy the rest of the week!

Cashmere Dame is Moxie Fab!!

Hey there, everyone!  Just wanted to pop in really quickly and let you know that Cashmere Dame is being featured on the Moxie Fab World blog this week!

This is what Cath had to say about Cashmere Dame, “Trendy, trendy, trendy, the Cashmere Dame collection from Glitz Design is a retro-vintage wonderment. By weaving trendy patterns and colors together with quintessential retro icons and dishy vintage images, Cashmere Dame is a delightful blast from the past that will inspire your designs today.”

And we totally agree with her! :)  Cath will be picking TWO winners of the Cashmere Dame collection, so be sure to head over to the Moxie Fab Cashmere Dame post and leave a comment on it!!

Moving On with Audrey Yeager

I have had a crazy summer.  We moved from Houston back to central NY after having lived there for 5 years.  When I first moved to Texas, I was very homesick.  But over the years, I really got connected, and I was surprised at how sad I was when it was time to go.
While looking through my stash of Glitz goodies, low and behold there was a “Texas” and “New York” die cut in the Happy Travels Whatnots pack. They were perfect for me to use on this layout about what I have been going through with this move.

I began by cutting out a Texas and New York State shape from the black background paper using my electronic die cutting machine and some svg files from the web.  I took a circle stencil and used the map stamp from the “Happy Travels” collection and stamped some maps in black on the black background for some tone on tone.

I splattered some paint and then layered some papers, die cother and stickers. I left a large card for journalng that pulls out from the side of the page.

In contrast to my kinda gloomy page, I have been waiting to do this next page for such an long time. The Happy Travels epoxy stickers and the title stickers both have the phrases “I love you in the morning.  I love you in the afternoon.  I love you in the evening”. Now, being a mom of a 3 year old, I know that those are the lyrics to the song skinamarinky dinky dink, which my daughter and mother happen to love singing to each other!

I stamped around the border of the page with a music note stamp from French Kiss collection.

I was thinking of the color of the sun in the morning, afternoon, and evening, so I used some circles with those colors and added phrase stickers to them.  I also cut out a Vintage Blue peek-a-booain’t I some heart shapes and layered them on the circles, too.

Be sure to stop by the blog on Saturdays to get some great tips and techniques

Step by Step Saturday with Karola Witczak

Hello Glitzers!! It’s Karola here with new Saturday Step By Step post for you!
I really don’t know whether you can find something special, really magic at my works, I  always think that the final effect (finished layout) presents everything. However for today I prepared the post about how to create the layout - step by step.
I hope that I will be able to encourage you to playing with my favorite techniques and effects – layering, fussy cutting and creating dimension.
So, lets’ start! Today we will working with one of the newest Cashmere Dame collection – it’s stunning!!
1. Prepare two papers which will be a background. I chose these papers.
2. Next cut one of papers in a half (6 x12 inches) and adhere it in onto the lower part of the layout. Prepare another one paper – if you like to create a “matting” of your background. I love this way, it’s seems to me that then the whole composition is close.
3. Ink the edges of your background and adhere it.
4. Cut out a few elements from papers. Fortunately the Cashmere Dame collection has quite a lot of elements perfect for fussy cutting  we must use it! Then on the left side of your cut-outs put some 3d foam tape or 3d cubes… just something dimensional.
5. Using circle puncher cut out a few circles (2 “) from the same collection.
6. And then – using your favorite embossing folder and your die-cutting/embossing machine – emboss a pattern on the circles. Ink the edges.

7. Now we can finally start creating the arrangement on our page. I started with sticking two decorative borders in the middle of the layout.

8. Next I added photo (with matting), cut-outs and embossed circles. I always have a huge fun creating layers!
9. I found the piece of the turquoise tulle in my stash, it’s from the Dance In Sunshine collection. I decided to use it as the delicate background up to paper flowers.
10. It’s a high time for finishing touch. I added beautiful flowers, one more circle with journaling and some 3d paint dots.
And here is the FINAL EFFECT – “Dreamer” layout:
Glitz Design Product used:
  • Glitz Design Cashmere Dame Papers: Gingham, Honeycomb, Chevron, Floral, Banner
  • Glitz Design Beautiful Dreamer Title Stickers

French Inspiration with Laurie Schmidlin

It’s Laurie here, and I’m back to share a couple of cards with you!  With the onset of Autumn, I have found myself reaching for more neutrals and textures to add to my cards!  There is nothing more gorgeous and full of texture than the French Kiss Collection!

GD Joli

For my first card, I layered a couple of pieces of patterned papers onto a kraft card base.  I added a Cardstock Sticker, a Glitzer, and an Epoxy Word (all from the French Kiss Collection).  The “flower” is one that I made by creating a rosette from some coordinating French Kiss paper, a scrap of burlap, and a Giant Rhinestone.  To add even more texture, I tucked in some leaves.

GD Amour

My second card features products from the same collection, but has a completely different look.  I kept this one simple so the intricate detail on the Peek-A-Boo would shine!  For embellishments I added a little tag (made from some coordinating French Kiss paper), a Layered Sticker, and some Epoxy Words!

I’m so glad you joined me here today!  I hope your day is a creative one!  ~Laurie

Layout & Chipboard Album with Rommel Okuma

Hi guys! How have you been?  Today I created two special projects: a layout and a mini-album.  First, let me show the layout using Pretty Pink collection!
This little girl is my niece who actually lives in Japan. I used papers from Pretty in Pink collection and a little bit of blue papers from Happy Travels. The contrast add some interesting to the page, see some details:
The mini-album I made using the gourgeous chipboard album from French Kiss collection! You can customize it at all with your style: simple and clear, layers, artsy whatever you like …. with Glitz Design products you have many possibilities of creation.
I chose to work with grunge style with a bit of vintage, adding several sanded edges as well, inked with Pan Pastels and other kind of inks.

In this chipboard page I work with collage techniques, adding a little bit of mixed media in this album. After inked the background with gesso, acrilic paint, pan pastels and color wash I used some paper stripes from French Kiss Paper Layer and several stamps to create this colorful page.
