Freedom of Choice with Nicole Petersen

I’m all about freedom of choice — whether it’s freedom from a schedule or kids! Well, this month the designers for Glitz were given the freedom to choose one other project — outside of our normal category! I choose to create one layout and one altered project.

For my layout, I chose to mix two paper collections– Vintage Love and Distressed Couture. This picture is my grandfather-in-law in Alaska, but what makes it extra special to me is that my eleven-year-old was the photographer. She remembers him asking someone to snap his picture with the massive moose horns. She will also share the moment of making her parental grandfather happy with one click of a camera.

This is what scrapbooking is all about – treasuring the moments that shape our lives and preserving them for future generations.

If you look closely at my layout, you will notice that I used Glitz stamps (Fancy Frames, Distressing, and Save the Date) to create a one-of-a-kind tape! I love the idea of using stamps and ink to create items for my layouts that make me smile when I share them with my family and friends.

For this month’s altered item, I changed a regular metal dressform into a piece of art. This beauty will be in my living room.

I again used tape made from wonderful Glitz stamps (as a belt!) to highlight a Glitzer from the Vintage Love collection. I popped it up with a dot of glue and a fragment! Fun!

Notice, the necklace made from Glitz bling and the “head” featuring a flower made from Glitz paper. Now, that’s a fashion statement!

She’s a Beaut! Have a great 4th of July! And, be sure to celebrate whatever sort freedom you are given.
